Come on in 'The Kitchn'
Each week we round up our favorite posts and recipes from our friends at The Kitchn.

This week, the Kitchn explores clever, inexpensive food gifts in their Un-Gift Guide 2008 series, including these Oreo truffles. Decadent-looking, but they secretly only require three ingredients: Oreos, cream cheese, and chocolate chips. They'll never know...
Also on the Kitchn, granola bar recipes, how to eat acorns, leaving cookies for Santa, and oven mitts in lieu of Christmas stockings.
- Food On the Go: Granola Bars and Other Quick Snacks: Recession-friendly recipes for snack attacks.
- Seasonal Spotlight: Acorns: Apparently, they aren't just for chipmunks. While gathering acorns, select yellowish fat ones without wormholes.
- Leaving Cookies for Santa: He will probably bring you better gifts if you leave him these Christmas balls, studded with red and green sugar granules.
- Alternative Christmas Stocking: Use an Oven Mitt: Is an oven mitt shaped like a stocking, or is it the other way around? The kitchen accessory doesn't look so bad hung by the fire.

My mother introduced me to those truffles about two years ago - they are FANTASTIC. Also, incredibly rich.

I made these today after reading the post =)
Three types: one with white chocolate, one with dark, and one covered in cocoa.
Can anyone experienced w/ chocolate explain why white chocolate just does not want to melt a lot, especially compared to dark?

Oh my word, for being so simple, these are so good. I had some white-chocolate coated ones at a friend's house awhile ago, and I could not stop eating them.
