UN 'Has Run Out of Gaza Food Aid'
"The UN has no more food to distribute in the Gaza Strip," reports the BBC. Israel has been denying the transfer of all goods into Gaza for about a week.

May have something to do with the state of war they have declared on Israel, or the rockets they are firing at them, or the hostages they have been holding for over a year now, or the smuggling tunnels, or the bomb tunnels under Israeli territory. OK, fine, Hamas is in charge... but they were elected with a 60% mandate, by the now starving Palestinians.
And since this IS a food blog, let me point out there is NO reason for Gazans to starve. Before the withdrawal, Gaza hot houses produced 70% of the fresh non-tree fruits, vegetables, and flowers in both Israel and Gaza. Given the Gazan population, in maximalist terms, is 1/7 of the combined total, they should be dining like vegan kings.

The Palestinians who took over Gaza, destroyed the greenhouses, and anything else, the Iraelis had to abandon.
I suspect this UN claim, because there is a border with Egypt, and they could get supplies in through Egypt were it truly the case that they had run out of food supplies. This strikes me as an attempt to force Israel into opening the borders and backing down.
The UN is no longer a principled organization, it has refused to deal with the genocide in Darfur, the so called representatives from member states are corrupt and have been lining their pockets with the money the west has given to provide aid.
