Photo of the Day: Rabbits Eating Lettuce

If your first reaction to this photo isn't, "BUUUNNNNIIIIIESS!!! AHHHH!!! EEEEHEEHEE! BUNNIIIESS!!!" then something's wrong with you. Because that was my reaction, and God knows I'm the definition of normalcy.
These rabbits, Brodsky and Peanut, belong to Michele Humes of the food blog Fine Furious Life. In an entry about innate likes and dislikes with food, she explains that while Brodsky loves carrots, Peanut won't touch them. Michele's dislikes include floral note, tarragon, and fennel. I would try to think of my own, but I'm too distracted by the adorably fluffy bunnies.

Not so cute: Bugs eating lettuce: http://tinyurl.com/6ebd6h

I've found I have quite a large number of recipes for that wonderfully-delicious rabbit meat. Of course, these two wouldn't qualify since you never name your dinner.

This is my first thought:
"I've got a theory, it could be bunnies...
Bunnies aren't cute like everybody supposes
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses
And what's with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?
Bunnies! Bunnies, it must be bunnies!
Or maybe midgets?"
Anyone?

robyn, you might be interested in the "bunny photo" facebook app, if you don't already have it!

@j: OMG, I don't. What is wrong with me? I shall investigate.
roboppy at 5:43PM on 11/06/08
Ahhhh! :)
The one with his eyes closed must have just eaten a particularly tasty morsel, as he looks to be in bunny bliss.

Awww. they cute.
My kitty Porsche eats my pinapple sage like it's grass or something!

Ok, this post made me finally stop lurking. My rabbit Fiver will eat anything. It started with my sheet music and junk mail. Then he started eating the cats' food (bunnies are supposed to be vegan...). My boyfriend brings me flowers every Shabbat and Fiver started eating those. Last week he tried candy corn for the first time and has since found the bag and tried to chew through it. He also will eat popcorn and saltine crackers. And he KNOWS when my roommate (an actual vegan) or I am eating and begs. Like up on hind legs begs. Rabbits are funny.

Sigh, why is it that every time somebody mentions my pets, a reference to eating them is not long in coming?
Robyn, you must meet them in person some day!

@hellojodi...welcome...glad you stoppped lurking & jumped right in!
We have rabbits as well, they are vegan...we control their diets pretty good because they have to spend more time in their large cages than out...we also have cats.
I do have friends who had a rabbit that was like yours though...she had the run of the house, and would beg and eat anything offered her...included M&M's...and pizza! Her mistress also gave her baked goods on a regular basis...she grew to be a very large bunny!
I've found our rabbits love nearly every veggie offered...especially brussel sprouts...but are not wild about fruits.
Great pic!

@lo82070 - Thank you so much. Now I'm going to have Anya's voice running through my head all evening. Wonder if I can convince the hubby to watch "Once More With Feeling"...
And... Squee!! Bunnies!!!
trillian42 at 7:16PM on 11/06/08
did any one read the bunnicula books when they were younger? that's pretty much what this picture reminds me of....the bunny would break into fridges and suck the blood (color) out of the veggies....if i remember correctly....my goodness i'm getting old!

Anya and her bunny phobia was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this post! Glad to know it's not just me!
@luxie--buffy is still alive and well on DVD. I've been through the series wayyyy too many times. Gee, I bet nobody can tell I'm a Buffy fan.....
