Lunch Bag Art for Kids

20081104-lunchbagart.jpg

Did your parents love you as much as the dad behind Lunch Bag Art, a blog that shows the cute lunch bags he draws each day for his kids? Mine may have been, but couldn't show it because they weren't as artistically inclined. I hope Dylan and Dana keep the bags even after they finish their lunches.

That's adorable...but I dare say I hardly have time to put together my kids' lunches, never mind draw them a picture on the outside of the bag! I used to write little "I love you" messages on the outside of their snack baggies, until my son brought his lunchbag home with the baggies empty and the messages unceremoniously scribbled out. When I questioned him about it, he got really embarassed, and felt bad that he might have "hurt my feelings" but said, "Mummy, I love you too, but when you write messages like that to me in my lunch the other boys tease me!" So no more messages...now I just cover his face with kisses before he leaves the house!!! :o)

i suspect the housekeeper is really the one drawing these

My mom used to write me notes on my napkin when I went on field trips and the like. But then it was the only napkin and I would feel bad about using it.

It was definitely a nice sentiment, though.

That is SO adorable. I wish I had artistic talent like that!

ACK! Mom has too much time I think, but she sure is good at drawing cartoons! I had one of those reusable, soft lunch bags that kind of smelled like an American cheese wrapper.

Oh, this almost brings a tear to my eye!

My mom would draw a cartoon on our lunch bags everyday! It was a cat - inspired by our own pets - who would be saying or doing something related to the day. Field trip days typically had the most fun designs :) I don't know how she managed to come up with something new everyday! I started to get teased a bit in high school (you know, when moms become dorky), but I just loved the bags too much to ask her to stop. I only wish that I had saved some of them instead of throwing them out at the end of lunch break!

i'd rather my mom (and myself, since i've become a mom), spend that much time making what's IN the bag.
pbj in a fancy bag=lipstick on a pig?

do kids these days even know what he-man is?

jumpy - that is just what I thought! I draw a smily face and feel proud - I do it on a napkin or directly on the bread with edible ink though because he has a reusable bag

I use to love when my dad would pack my lunch. He always drew a great Homer Simpson and I was always so proud.

FYI It was the kids' dad who drew the art on the bags during his own lunch hour the day before, every day. http://lunchbagart.tumblr.com/

@hjpieman: Thanks for the info! I will update the post.
