Liquid Smoking

20081101-liquidsmoking.jpgWell, you can't have your cigarette and smoke it too, but now you have the option to drink it. The Dutch company that created Liquid Smoking decided to give it a fruit flavor instead of cigarette flavor. The herbal drink is meant to help smokers in nonsmoking situations, like at the doctor's office or on an airplane. According to the Daily Mail, the drink "promises an instant high followed by a "euphoric calming feeling."

Though it's supposed to simulate the feeling of smoking, none of the ingredients remotely mirror tobacco. Instead of nicotine, it contains a mix of South African plants.

As a former smoker, and sometimes a social smoker, the idea of getting a fix from a drink defeats the purpose of smoking. The addiction part of the cigarette experience involves nicotine, something Liquid Smoking does not contain. The other aspect of smoking is actually smoking, and obviously drinking a beverage can't replace that feeling —even if the packaging looks like a pack of Marlboros. The drink just hit the British market and hasn't made its way to the States yet, but keep your eyes out.

Eww... Grape-flavored smoke? Or apple-flavored smoke? TERRIBLE.

What the freak is in it?

Of course it's difficult to trust people who would try to pursue a marketing angle in such a silly way. Nonetheless I want to know if the product delivers on the high and euphoria.

Just when you think you have seen it all.

Mmmm yummy, sounds kind of like licking a fruity ashtray. Or smoking and chewing gum? Bubblicious! I know! It can be the new gateway to get teenagers to smoke! Does it have an age limit to buy it?

wow this is so odd but i don't know if it would make you want to smoke if you don't already because there is no nicotine in it and that is the addictive side to ciggs. it is really gross but i just don't see the point.maybe you have to be a smoker to get it?

sounds like it would be better for caffeine addicts than nicotine addicts.
