Favorite Fictional Cooks in Movies and TV Shows

20081112-cookstvmovies.jpg

Clockwise from top left: Jerome "Chef" McElroy from South Park, Mrs. Lovett the baker from Sweeney Todd, Ned the pie-maker from Pushing Daisies, TV chef Jackie Chan from Mr. Nice Guy.

Unlike the pies of Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) in Sweeney Todd—made of priests, poets, and other victims of the upstairs barber shop—those of Ned (Lee Pace), the pie maker on Pushing Daisies, are not alive. (You know, berries and butter and stuff.) Either way, pie has a special significance in television and cinema, as does food in general.

Zap2it put together this slideshow of 43 fictional characters who spend their time in the kitchen. Who are your favorites?

The Swedish Chef - Bork, Bork, Bork forever!!

Next favorites are Gareth Blackstock, Nick & Kate from No Reservations, and Remy the Rat from Ratatouille.

Yay, Swedish Chef!

And Mel Sharples from Alice.

How about Kerri Russell in Waitress?? :)

I have to go with Ned...because Lee Pace is hot. And I like pies.

Oh no wait, Stephen Chow in God of Cookery is pretty much the most awesome chef ever. He could make fire come out of his palms.

YAY NED! Pushing Daisies is definitely one of my favorite shows. But Juliette Binoche in Chocolat. I do know that I now have a list to take with me to the video store, though. =)

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Simply Irresistable. A modern version of Like Water for Chocolate.

Adam Sandler in Spanglish or Mandy Moore in Because I Said So

The Swedish Chef is No.1

All about the swedish chef... but missing from that list I like Bender from Futurama.

Chef from southpark is, and always will be, the best. Him and his chocolate salty balls.

Chef (Isaac Hayes) - will miss him...

Aaron Eckhardt in No Reservations and Adam Sandler in Spanglish.

Swedish Chef is awesome!

There are some interesting picks on that list..

@windattack Love Bender Bending Rodriguez but gotta give props to Elzar! Hey, haven't we all wished for 2 extra arms when we are "in the weeds"?

Though he doesn't cook anything in the movie, I can't help but think of Chef in Apocalypse Now, who protests loudly that he's not a chef, but a saucier.

Remy!!

And also, the chef from the Little Mermaid, who tries to serve Sebastian.

And Catherine Zeta-Jones in No Reservations because her neuroticism kind of reminds me of my own.

Steven Segal - Under Siege

I made something like this as a quiz a few months back, but I guess it is pointless now because all of the answers are spoiled! I cant believe they came up with 43! I had trouble thinking of 16. Then again, I tried not to think of too obscure ones people wouldn't get, also I am happy that I thought of a few they didn't! and used more relevant pictures of the people actually cooking. here it is

Elzar is so not as cool as Bender.

That's why my flash drive is named Bender and not Elzar. (It plugs into my computer which is named "Planet Express". Yeah yeah, I'm a dork.)

"There was nothing wrong with that food. The salt level was 10% less than a lethal dose."

Babette in "Babette's Feast". And of course Gareth Blackstock in "Chef!", and his kitchen menial Everton, who makes sauces with the washing up water. What is the essence of good cooking?

Nobody beats Huerequeque from Fitzcarraldo!

Nicholas Cage as Ronny Cammareri in Moonstruck!!! I cannot believe he didn't make it to the list...he had a wooden hand!
