What's Your Favorite Halloween Candy?

20081016-halloweencandy.jpg

Halloween candy allegiance is so subjective. An Almond Joy can inspire love or nausea in different people. Same with Laffy Taffy, Milk Duds, and Whoppers. Please reveal your favorite candy, and fight for why you think it's so good.

Kit Kat(!!!)
raisinets
Crunch Bar

In that order :)

Dots

I don't eat them at any other time of year besides Halloween.

Heath Bar
Take 5
100 Grand

When I was a kid I would go bonkers over those juice filled wax bottles or the pixy sticks. Now - mini snickers or mini peanut butter cups. MMmmm.

Twix = chocolate + caramel + cookie

Almond Joys are the best--
creamy coconut and a WHOLE almond--which feels healthy if you eat it at the end (i like to disassemble my candies).

I have to say that Kit Kats were always pretty special, as were Reeses. But just to date myself, that was in the days before Twix.

Sweet Tarts

My favorite Halloween candy would have to be peanut M&Ms.
Not the plain ones!
Trick or Treat?

I love those things, I think they're called Mary Janes, they are in the black or orange wrapping and they have some peanut buttery stuff in the middle. YUMMMM.

U-No bars, Annabelle Dark Chocolate Rocky Road bars [with cashews! Nummers!] and Lucky nougat bars. As you can tell, when it comes to Halloween, I go straight back to my childhood, craving that slightly waxy, not-quite-entirely-chocolate coating.

CANDY CORN! I love candy corn! I pretty much stockpile it as soon as it shows up in stores around the end of September, that way I have enough to last me the whole month (and maybe then some). It's fantastic because so few people like it that it's nearly always dirt cheap, and I very rarely have to share, haha. Don't even get me started on those little pumpkins -- I just might go into a diabetic coma. =)

Butterfingers and candy corn -- I will gorge myself until I feel sick. Then wait 30 minutes, and voila! I feel well enough to start all over.

Nutty chocolate confections are my faves. I don't even have to sneak in my kids' bags anymore. They love me that much!

Gotta be Mounds bars, but I rarely see them...definitely overshadowed by the inferior milk chocolate Almond Joy ;-)

i don't think i could pick just one. i'm a sucker {every pun intended} for cheap sweets!!! i love lemon, cherry, orange, and grapeheads, sour belts, smarties, tootsie rolls, junior mints, heath bars, skittles, sugar babies, almond joys, laffy taffy, and kitkats. for starters.

walgreens had some ginormous bags of dubble bubble on sale a couple of weeks ago. i bought some bags for my office {i work with children} and i think my dentist will be able to start a college fund for her two sons after she's done fixing what's left of my teeth.

Raisons, pennies and toothbrushes.

Mallow Cups, Butterfingers, Twizzlers, Dots, Almond Joy, Take 5, Jujifruits, Hot Tamales, Safe-T Pops, Sunkist jellies, fruity Tootsie Rolls...Oh man, I miss dumping that sack out on the living-room carpet and diving in!

reese's, 100 grand, kit kat, butterfinger (always liked the original, but, a few years ago, i got the ones with the cream/wafer filling and those are awesome and not as likely to lift your sealants), mounds

You liked getting toothbrushes?

Big Hershey bars (thie 5-cent size, in those days) was considered the candy of choice in the days of yore, but you got one of those maybe once every couple of years. These days, I am hard-put to make a choice. Payday if it's salty enough. Reece's PB Cups. Snickers. I loved peanut butter logs as a kid, and only THIS YEAR dscovered that Clark Bars are just chocolate covered PB logs - oh, my shame and regret! I'm a sucker for the candy pumpkins but I have yet to discover a kid that likes them. And then there were the funny-looking things called Circus Peanuts that were fake-banana flavored. Dark-chocolate-covered peppermint that came in a green foil package, the predecessor to York patties. We're not going to be home this year, but my general theory is that I'd better not buy anything I like for T&T-ers.

I always went trick-or-treating with my little sister and so my parents made us dump our bags (pillow cases actually) and split everything. The catch was that I was in charge of the splitting... Meaning "two for me one for you" and I always traded her the crappy candy (candy corn, jelly oranges, stuff with coconut etc.) for all the good stuff like chocolate kisses and skittles. In the end it really didn't matter though because our dad would take all of it when we fell asleep and hoard it through the holidays. We always got a piece now and then in our lunch boxes but I know who really had the sweet tooth in the family... Oh and my sister totally forgives me for being a brat!

Farley's candy pumpkins. Other brands are okay, but this one has honey. Makes all the difference.

The molasses flavoured canday kisses are my favourites. My dentists' too as it turned out as they can suck out the fillings in your back teeth :).
Caramel corn balls are a close second.

Old favorite: fun size Snickers or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

New favorite: Ghost Dots! The little ghosts on the box are so cute!

Krackel bars--they put Crunch to SHAME
Bit O'Honey
Caramel Apple pops.

yummm.

Twizzlers, Snickers, Kit Kat, 3 Musketeers, Nerds, Good 'N Plenty, Bottle Caps, and candy corn!!

The combination of candy corn, Butterfingers, and Reeces Peanut Butter cups and Reeces Pieces is the taste of Halloween for me!

What is so unique about that peanut butter in those devlish cups?

Back in the stone age when I went trick-or-treating there were little boxes of black licorice-they called them pipes but they were really just little tubes. If you blew into them just right they'd whistle. I also really like Smarties and Reese's Cups.

Payday FTW!

Salty... Sweet... and no chocolate. You can't go wrong there.

Reese's cups, peanut M&Ms, Reese's pieces.

It's all about the peanuts for me.

I always liked the caramel apple pops when I was kid.

I'm a fan of lemon heads and sour patch kids these days. Gimme tart!

I imagine the answer to this question depends heavily upon when you did your trick or treating. For me, that would be roughly between 1957 and 1965. No Reese's pieces, no Nerds, but maybe more regional favorites. I liked Boyer's Mallo Cups, Three Musketeers, and Milk Duds, but Dots were good, too. I had no use for anything with nuts of any kind (what do kids know, anyway?).

mounds and milky way! i would always trade my sister all my reese's cups for all her mounds and milky ways. also kit kats. it's so weird that all of these are candy you can literally eat at any point of the year, but it doesn't occur to you to chow down until it's halloween...

@montana eats-that was funny :)

@Kimc54-i couldn't agree with you more about mounds being the best.
i love the bite sized bags, although i do find myself looking at the number of wrapper corpses strewn about afterwards and feel ashamed of my gluttony.

Why hasn't anyone said Mary Janes? The peanut butter taffy made strictly for Halloween? They are by far the best!!!!

Just about anything that ISN'T pure sugar. Throw a little salty in there (Reese, Twix, Snickers)...and you've got a winner!

I'm with kimc54 & gastronomeg: Mounds are the winner, hands down. Dark chocolate + coconut = heaven.

Twix by far!

Runners up:
Kit Kat
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
Hershey's Krackel Bars

Hillary
Chew on That

Bottle Caps, Tootsie Roll Pops (except for the chocolate flavor), Blow Pops, Dubble Bubble, Kit Kat, Strawberry Laffy Taffy, Reese's, Chewy Sweetarts, Take 5, 3 Musketeers,Runts(except for banana, which I hate)

Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Muskateers, Kit Kat, Twix, Mounds, Almond Joy, Reeses Cups and Abba Zabba.

dudes, come on, zagnut. its like a 5th avenue, and in place of chocolate is chick-o-stick stuff! hooray for that!

I love visiting my sisiter on Halloween night because she always hands out the "good" stuff: Reeses, Snickers, Twix, M&Ms, etc. As I was digging through her stash a few years ago, I saw a Take 5 bar. After one bite, I was hooked. While my sister wasn't looking, I proceeded to pick every single Take 5 bar out of her candy bowl and keep them all for myself. To this day, I don't think she realizes that I cheated her trick-or-treaters out of their Take 5s.

Take 5 is my new crack. Move over Twix, Kit Kat, Heath, Mr. Goodbar, Payday, and Reese's.

If only they'd bring back the crunchy cookie Reese's cup.

Take 5 is pretty yummy, lol. I managed to eat up our bag of kissables before Halloween even started:p

charleston chews..

so good;D

twix-100 grand-heath-laffy taffy

did anyone else do this? my brother, best friend and i (allways the same trick or treating team) would spend hours "organizing" our candy. spreading it all out on the floor, and putting it into color order, or flavor order, and mixing it all up and just...doing it again, but different?? i noticed that the girl i babysit does it too, and my little cousins do it...did all kids do it????

maybe the devil is trying to communicate with the children through the candy...

@deliah We used to organize everything too :)

Um I'll pretty much eat anything sweet (that's what she said...)

but seriously, i could a ton of kit kats...any other chocolate candy (like twix or reeses) is too sweet to eat a ton of!

caramel apple pops are THE BOMB!

they give you wicked lugies.

...god, my friends and i were gross in grade school...

Definitely Reese's peanut butter cups! Anything chocolate seemed very valuable to me in terms of Halloween loot.

Kit Kat bars. They were truly a beautiful thing.

Hershey pumpkin spice candy kisses. This was their first year out and they were hard to find.
