'Top Chef' Winner Stephanie Izard Upset She's In Republican Ad

20081007-izard-chicago-ad.jpgA photo of Stephanie Izard, the winning Chicagoan of last season's Top Chef, appeared on the show "What's Cookin' with the Republicans!" without her consent, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. The show features a cooking segment inside a local Chicago restaurant, followed by a roundtable discussion led by Cook County Republican Tony Peraica, who is also running for Cook County State's Attorney.

The logo features Izard next to Peraica, but Peraica had no clue who she was.

The show's producer and fellow Republican Dan Schmitt said he picked her because she resembled one of his old girlfriends, and overall, "looked generic."

HOW HORRIBLE!
I hope she takes a stand and does something about this.
Can't let the republicans walk all over EVERYONE!!!!

so instead of being an Elephant, she's just an Ass?

Republicans are thieves, no surprises there. She should sue them for all the embezzled public funds they're worth.

If I were her- that comment alone would tick me off. "looked generic" pssshaw!

@bisbee - "psshaw!" is right!!

Reminds me of a stunt old George W. pulled when he used a Foo Fighters song in a campaign ad without permission. To retaliate, they played two free concerts at a John Kerry convention.

I can't tell you how many ways I'd be ticked off if I were in Stephanie's crocs.

FTA:
"That really is the girl who won?" Schmitt said, laughing. "I'll make her famous."

Like winning a competition shown on a cable network doesn't already make her famous? Because we all know that a public access segment probably shown in one county in the entire country will really make her a superstar!

Saying that she looks "generic" is better than saying what he might have meant, that she looks "ugly." *shrug*

Cassaendra, he also said she looked like his ex-girlfriend, so I doubt that's what he meant. That statement does however reveal what a creepy virtual stalker he is though.

All other comments aside, what gives them the right to use her image without her permission?
