Sarah Palin: Locavore
"And if you look twice at the reasons why Palin hunts, they resemble an ideal cherished by city-dwelling, New York Times-reading folks. Sarah Palin is a locavore, harvesting meat from her local 'foodshed.'" [Slate, via Eater L.A.]

I don't give her too much credit for this. Food prices in Alaska are astronomical compared to the rest of the U.S. ($6 gal milk, with $2 just for shipping.) Hunting simply renders cheaper meats. It's been that way for a long time.

Sarah Palin may or may not be a local eater, but we'd need to know much more about her food choices to make that determination, and I think the term "locavore" implies a commitment to certain ideas (sustainability, for example) that I doubt Palin shares.
