The AP sayeth: "Chief marketing officer Andy England says the decision was due to weakness in the "malternative" segment and declining consumer interest. He says distributors can get remaining Zima inventories most likely through December." I had no idea it was still being brewed."Malternative." Ha.

I was in college when this first came out... I remember taking a bunch to tailgating before the game... ugh. It was like trying to get drunk on weird tasting sprite or 7-up.
I haven't seen it in years, of course I haven't been perusing the "malternative" section lately though.

i remember buying two of these in high school at a convenience store on the upper east side, not getting carded, brown-bagging them in central park, and feeling like the biggest badass in the world.
I'd beat myself up if i could travel back in time.
But with Zima going bust, I guess i'll really have to go through with my plan to make moonshine zima with some of the leftover brewer's yeast from my last batch of beer. i'm thinking 5 gallons of water, 8 pounds of domino sugar, and 2 bags of jolly ranchers (i know zima's supposed to be clear, but let's have a little fun) ought to do the trick.
