How to Make Vegan Candy Corn

20081009-vegancandycorn.jpgSince packaged candy corn tends to have non-vegan-friendly ingredients like gelatin, egg whites, and beeswax, vegan baker Melissa Elliott of The Urban Housewife made her own vegan candy corn by using Earth Balance and soy milk. She also shares tips and tricks for an optimal candy corn-making experience. Since they're a bit tedious to make, she recommends throwing a candy corn party with friends. [via The Kitchn]

OMG--My life's quest has now come to an end. I can die happy. ;)

Oh, I am SO doing this this weekend.

IMO - Sorry, candy corn is gross, no matter if there are animal products in it or not.

I'm not a candy corn fan either... but, as an artist I think these are beautiful. Just lovely...

This year I'm going to include some vegan literature in the candy I give to kids, so that the parents have an opportunity to know more about veganism.

Even printing out our own little card with our favorite vegan website would be a good idea to get more people informed.

Anyway, nice candy - Happy Halloween

I think I'll join in and give out miniature bibles with their candy to kids stopping by too!

yeah, i'm all for veganism, but handing out propaganda to kids at halloween is creepy. well, i guess halloween is supposed to be creepy. but really, i think nothing would turn a kid off to veganism faster than giving them literature about it on halloween. I can get behind the bible idea though because i kind of don't want kids reading the bible.

Giving out Chick tracts on halloween...now that's scary! Makes me think of that doc film about the "haunted house" the bible thumpers put on in some town where the "scary stuff" inside were things like birth control and weed and harry potter books. I think the film was called "Hell House".

wow. a vegan candy corn making party is NOT somewhere I would ever want to be...

My friends is making these for our Halloween potluck. I tried the trial batch ... they taste the same as Brach's!
