White Rabbit Candies, Now with Kidney Stones

20080923-whiterabbit.jpgMilky nougat-like White Rabbit candies have been found to contain melamine, adding to the string of melamine-tainted dairy products coming from China. Melamine is an industrial chemical that can cause kidney stones and kidney failure, and has already sickened tens of thousands of infants in China. [via Gothamist]

Wow. I used to eat lots of theses when I was younger, and I almost bought a bag a couple of weeks ago just out of nostaglia. Glad I didn't...

Oh crud. I love those...except when they sit out in the winter and are hard as kidney stones. We always have a bag around the house. :\

Melamine was the culprit in the tainted pet food debacle. :(
