Scan Toaster 'Prints' onto Bread

20080914scantoaster.jpg

Sometimes two slices of toast on a plate can look pretty dull and unappetizing, but imagine if you could jazz up this boring breakfast staple with a cool picture or a sweet note to your significant other—that would be pretty neat, right?

The Scan Toaster makes that possible. The toaster, by designer Sung Bae Chang, uses hot wires that rotate within a 30 degree radius to burn the image or text of your choice onto your toast. Since this thing can print literally anything, the possibilities are endless.

The toaster is still in the design phase (it was a finalist in the 2008 Electrolux Design Lab competition), but if it ever makes it to a store near me, I'm definitely snapping one up. [via Gizmodo]

I love this. Its the perfect thing for a pattern freak. But is also good for those difficult morning moments.

can it make a pattern of a middle finger? cause we're having an office breakfast soon.... err... I mean...

so fun! unfortunately, i read that they are not planning to go into mass production.

eh...I feel like that's a pretty pointless/stupid idea...

There is a Hello Kitty toaster on the market already

next stop at the flea market stand... "your name on piece of toast!" (convienently located next to "Your name on grain of rice!!" stand)

@southern_bella...LOL ! I want that too.

I don't get the need for this contraption at all. Toast is toast. People who feel the need to "jazz up" toast, if you'll excuse the pun, haven't got enough on their plate already.

That's awesome! Very cool if I ever saw one I'd get it, kids would love it!

I want.....

Please ignore the Mickey toaster and the Winnie The Pooh toasters that already exist in my house.
