Photo of the Day: Oscar's Adirondack Smoke House

Oscar's Adirondack Smoke House may be known for smoked meats and cheeses, but never having eaten their products I'll only know it as "the restaurant with the unsettling anthropomorphized cartoon-like pig figures out front." They're so excited to serve you their own flesh! It could only be better if the pigs eyes glowed red at night, which I'll assume doesn't happen.

Oscar's bacon is excellent. It is absolutely worth a stop if you're nearby.

Bacon is extra smokey and delicious - but I wouldn't call it a "resturant" - it's a butcher's.

Best. Jerky. Ever. And the sausage is pretty awesome, too.

I was just there 3 weeks ago. FANTASTIC place. Great variety of bacon, sausages and steaks. A real find in an area that has little gourmet food offerings. But it isn't all gourmet focused. Oscars is what we used to have in this country before mass supermarkets and distribution. Small, family run butchers and purveyors that are consumed with quality. Compare that to mass market Stop & Shop, Tops or other meat departments....those places are scary! So, go to Warrensburg, NY, stop by and enjoy some of the best smoked products you will find North of NYC.

Oscar's also sells great cheese spreads and horseradish mustard sauce. Their gift baskets make excellent Christmas gifts. I grew up near Warrensburg and couldn't have been happier to see this photo today.

You mean to tell me this picture WASN'T taken in Wisconsin? hmm.

Warrensburg is some sort of meat nirvana as it is also home to The Meat Store Of The North which just happens to sell, wait for it... a lot of meat! Including giant vats of pickled kielbasa

I'm always too excited to get at the awesome food: shopped at Oscars for more than 20 years and never noticed the sign! Everything is excellent - cheese, sausage, steak, bacon, ham, jerky, etc - impossible to pick a favorite. I time my drive north/south with Oscar's opening hours in mind. Sometimes you'll find a handful of their products in area supermarkets but go to the source. Meat Store of the North is also good.
