To continue the theme of weird, artsy Jan Švankmajer films, this one-minute video tells the love story of two slabs of raw meat. What starts out so beautiful—the slabs tango on the cutting board and playfully toss flour at each other in new couple bliss—ends in tragedy. A sizzling frying pan tragedy.

Švankmajer is a pretty "out there" Czech filmmaker who has a few cinematic fetishes, one of which is raw meat. (He also likes rusty screws and puppets.) One of the first things I did when living in Prague was see his film Sílení, which also involves stop-motion scenes with raw meat. At first the images startled me, but eventually you look past the threat of intestinal worms and salmonella, and appreciate the exquisite animation. The video, after the jump.
