Sprinkles Cupcakes Sues Over 'Stolen' Use of Dot Design

California-based Sprinkles Cupcakes filed a lawsuit against competitor brand Famous Cupcakes over the cupcakery's improper use of the Sprinkles trademarked "modern dot" design. All this over a dot? Yes. The double concentric circle design is officially registered by Sprinkles. Though Famous Cupcakes doesn't seem to use the dot look on their actual cupcakes—just on their logo background—the iconic resemblance is not fine by Sprinkles. [via Eater LA]

A real food fight? ;)

I guess all they need is a picture of a cupcake with the same design before the trademark, and just invalidate the trademark.

Or move the dot slightly off center

Isn't that "design" all over everything nowadays? Tough call.

Good thing Target doesn't sell cupcakes, though I think its Chockylit chocolates have that dot and circle thing all over the place.

Oh, my bad--I meant Choxie. Chockylit's actually an awesome cupcake blog/baker.

They should go after Target next! :)

all these cupcakes are making me hungry:( hahaha.

are they going to sue me next because i have nipples?

Is it just me but do those cupcakes look like.......modernist nipples?
