Los Angeles Taco Trucks Saved (For Now)

Yesterday was a happy day for taco enthusiasts. A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge overturned a controversial rule made in April that forced the city's 14,000 registered taco trucks to move every hour, thus stalling normal business. Judge Dennis Aichroth ruled in favor of taqueros, calling the ban “too ambiguous to be enforceable” and “arbitrary and not based upon any rational, intrinsic or natural basis."
That taco tragedy inspired more than 9,000 signatures on SaveOurTacoTrucks.org where the founders (two Highland Park taco lovers) are rejoicing after yesterday's decision, but remaining levelheaded. "This may only be round one. The county can still appeal this decision, or rewrite the law." But fear not; there are ways to help:
- Email your supervisor, urging them to keep taco trucks in business.
- Take someone unfamiliar with the taco truck lifestyle out for a night of carne asada epiphanies—they will become a political ally for life.
