It's important for us to remember our roots, and for the Silver Butter Knife Steak, all the history goes back to Murray's in downtown Minneapolis. When the Silver Butter Knife Steak thinks to itself, "there's no place like home," Murray's is what comes to mind. Silver Butter Knife Steak refers to the restaurant's 28-ounce strip sirloin special, priced at $89.50 and meant for two diners.

Oh God yes! Thank you for posting about this restaurant! Their tenderloin with brandy cream sauce is to die for. I try to visit each time I am in downtown Mpls (I live in downtown St. Paul and don't make it over there enough).

Took my parents there for their 45th anniversary just a few weeks ago. My partner and I had the Butter Knife Steak (its made for two) - incredible. Make sure you get the escargot as an appetizer - it really can't be beat.

Excellent. This was my favorite Olde Skool steakhouse in Minneapolis

While Murrays is certainly a treat, and a great place to take the folks, the more canny carnivours in the Twin Cities for the Republican convention will probably be found dining at Mannys

garrison keillor wrote a wonderful essay about murrays for time magazine, which you can read here:

I live in MN and have never been to Murrays, but I'm sure my parents have when they both worked downtown. I'll have to check it out, thanks for the recommendation.

It made me smile to see the photo of Murray's scrolling up my screen. I haven't had the steak in a while, but it was really great. Part of the reason to go to Murray's is for experiencing the tradition of an actual old school steakhouse. I'd take Murray's over Manny's any day.
