Cook the Book: Bobby Flay's Grill It!

Book CoverSome Food Network stars may be just a flash in the pan, but true, well-trained and passionate celebrity chefs will always endure. Since the debut of Boy Meets Grill in 1996, Bobby Flay has stood as an example of what it means to be famous for food: he is the owner of five acclaimed restaurants, the talent behind three television shows (not to mention the food correspondent for The Early Show on CBS, and a regular guest on Iron Chef America), and a best-selling cookbook author. While many insiders and professionals scoff at culinary celebrities claiming they care more about cash than they do about cooking, Bobby has always been heralded for his innovative southwestern cuisine.

This Week's Cook the Book selection is Bobby Flay's Grill It!, his eighth title and the first ever that is fully illustrated and full-color. Bobby understands that home cooks think "I want salmon for dinner," not "I want to prepare an entrée on the grill." To that end, the chapters in Grill It! are divided by ingredient rather than by course, and cover everything from basic burgers and chicken breasts to show-stopping lobster and lamb chops (of course, there are veggies and desserts, too). Additionally, the book includes an exhaustive grill guide for resources, ingredients, indispensable grilling tools, and the pros and cons of gas versus charcoal.

Win ‘Bobby Flay’s Grill It!’

In addition to excerpting a recipe each day this week, we’re also giving away five (5) copies of Grill It! To enter for your chance to win, just tell us in the comments section below, if you could hire any Food Network star to cook you dinner in your home kitchen, who would it be?

Five (5) people will be chosen at random from among eligible comments below. Comments will close Monday, August 11th at noon ET. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.

Though I admit my lack of Food Network star knowledge, I would choose Mario Batali to cook dinner for me. Largely because I would ask him to bring his father's cured meats.

For the food, Wolfgang Puck
For the conversation, Alton Brown

I would love to have Ina Garten over to my house - Jeffrey too!

I'd be happy with any of these:
- paula
- giada
- mario
- alton
- the neelys
- nigella

I'd pretend to not be home if any of these knocked on the door:
- rachel
- sandra lee
- emeril

I'd probably pick Paula, not because I think it would be the best meal possible, but just because she seem so personable and I probably wouldn't freak out or be intimidated by her, haha. Like I would love to have Mario come over but I'd probably be a mess.

I've already had great meals from the kitchens of Wolfgang Puck, Mario, and Bobby and I'd happily have any of them cook for me again!

For something new, I'd love to eat a meal from Emeril.

I would take Batali, Flay or Alton.

I'd have to go with Batali, if only for the stories and education that go along with his cooking.

I'd have Jamie Oliver over. With the simplicity of his dishes and his wits, I think that would make a hell of a relaxed, fun and delicious dinner.

Mario Batali would be my first choice, because I think he'd really be fun to hang out with and cook with. And I'm sure I'd love anything he would make.

Although I adore Alton on TV, I be afraid to have him in my kitchen, because he'd scoff at all the gadgets and unitaskers. My hubby, on the other hand, would get a kick out of AB's McGuyverishness as he builds a smoker out of scrap computer parts and garden tools.

I'm sure I'd love whatever Flay would cook, but so much of his food cooks so fast on the grill that he's be out the door before I could get over being tongue-tied.

WIth Mario, maybe I could convince him to do some sort of braise or long-simmered sauce, and I could chat with him for hours. I'd bake the bread to go with whatever he made and it would be a wonderful meal.

Nigella Lawson. No doubt about it.

Mario - I haven't had good Italian at home in the 20 years since my grandmother passed.

Morimoto or Mario. If it was my last supper and calories, cholesterol and butterfat didn't matter, maybe Paula.

Morimoto for sure. He is creative and his restaurant food is delicious.

For me, it'd have to be Ina. She's wonderful.

Having eaten from Babbo, Mesa Grill, Morimotos and 2 different Emeril's restaurants, I'd pick Mario Batali in a heartbeat.

I don't watch food network since I don't have cable. From what I have read I would pick Mario Batali.

Only the ones who know how to cook, like Molto, bobby, jamie, Ina.

Paula Deen. She and her cooking reminds me of my aunt, grandmother and great aunt.

Michael Ciurello. Because I like to cook similar things.

I would have Bobby Flay outside on the grill.

That's pretty simple for me, I love to grill and barbeque so I would choose Bobby Flay. Close second would be Mario Batali for the many reasons noted above.

Mario Batali, fo'sho. And I'd also want Alton Brown as a guest, because I think he'd be a lot of fun.

Bobby Flay or Jamie Oliver!

Hands down, Mario Batali

Iron Chef Morimoto, no doubt.

Mario Batali!

My wife and I would disagree with 1 choice but hands down I would have Bobby Flay (she'd have Paula). Bobby's not only the master of the grill but the kinda guy you can kick back and have a drink with while watching the game. He's the cool big brother you always want to be.

Alton, without a doubt.

yeah batali in a landslide

definitely Jamie Oliver!! i just love how his cooking is real. its not done up in an elegant style(though it can certainly be served as such). its very down home and rustic and his personality is brilliant!!

Ina or Mario

Tyler Florence! He seems so laid back, and I've loved every recipe of his that I've tried.

Rachel - she's so friendly.

Alton for sure!

Alton Brown. He's the man!

Mario for sure, and I would never let him leave! :)
I actually drool while watching what he cooks....

(Is it bad dreaming of Mario while trying to win a book by Bobby? My DH is the griller, not me! )

Alton Brown, only if he wore his leathers!

I think Michael Symon, actually. Bobby's food looks good, but I have no idea what I'd say to him. I think I could actually chat with Michael-- at least, I'd be doing my damndest to make him laugh. My kitchen needs more maniacal laughter.

I'd pick Ina Garten, but, if we get to pick the location, i'd pick her house, too.

Ina Garten or Mario Batali

Alton Brown. He's hawt.

I would pick Michael Ciurello mainly cuz I like the way he puts a menu together. His is good cooking.

Batali

I like Ina, but there's something about morbidly obese cooks that
makes me nervous (and Mario could lose a few pounds).

for my dog, Rachael (just kidding, I love my dog).

Mario or Ina. Both are so personable and their food is superb. I could pour some wine and we'd hang out. I don't think either would mind when I offered to, ahem, "help". It would be a special evening.

Bobby Flay. Grill it or Lose it!!!!!

I think I'd have Michael Chiarello cook mine. He's my favorite. Hope I can win bobby flay's book though! B.G.

Jamie Oliver, because I heart his cooking and he's cute to boot.

erh. Or possibly Ina Garten, just because we all deserve to indulge once in a while. (Though not in that heart-attack-on-a-plate-gives-me-cholesterol-nightmares that Paula Deen calls "Southern Food" way.)

I think Tyler Florence would give a good, quick, in-depth lesson but I'd sure like Wolfgang Puck teach me how to make Danish.

Gordon Ramsay, because his food is tops, and he makes me laugh.

Paula Deen for the appetizers and colorful conversation, Bobby Flay for the grilled meat and fish and Ina Garten for dessert and cordials.

Definitely Alton Brown!

Nigella Lawson.

Mario or Alton. But I'd want to work with whichever came. And I'd want a say in the meal, as well. Hmm. I'm getting quite bitchy in my old age, it seems...

I think it has got to be Bobby Flay for me... he's a cool guy, and I've loved all the food he's cooked on the shows.

Bobby Flay. He cooks the type of food that I like.

Bobby Flay cooks what I like to eat!

Giada De Laurentiis. What can I say...

Alton Brown is a close second.

Mario Batali because I love his way with Italian food.

Can I still be entered in the drawing if I lie and say Sandra Lee? Just want to rattle everyone's cage. Alton for sure but I'd want to ride his bike...

Mario Batali

Anyone but Rachael Ray or Sandra Lee!

Jamie Oliver...in his "Naked Chef" glory... :)

I would have a hard time narrowing it down...AB, Mario, Bobby...all bring something I enjoy, so I just stick with a "Naked" Jamie!

giada, mario, bobby, ina, or tyler

Bobby Flay gets my vote.

Giada is by far the most attractive but I think I'd go with Alton.

Ina Garten, no question. I love Alton, but I wouldn't get out two words, I'd be so fan-struck. Ina seems like the kind of person I'd love to hang out in the kitchen with and share a bottle of wine.

Although, if I were being spiteful, I'd have Rachael Ray cook and then clean up the gazillion dishes she makes.

Giada can come over for dinner anytime.

Flay-no question.

Bobby or Mario-The Iron Chefs man!

Tyler Florence or Bobby Flay-I'm not picky.

Ina for breakfast,lunch,dinner and dessert!

It would be Bobby....he's my favorite

Mario Batali - no contest

Alton Brown -- my kitchen is so poorly equipped I'd want to see how he'd MacGuyver up something to make it delicious :D

@Karen R: learn how to use BitTorrent and you'll never regret not having cable. :D

Jamie Oliver would be my choice, is he still on Food Network? I haven't watched that channel since they became a food challenge/competition channel. The old FN was much more entertaining with a focus on good food.

Flay would also be welcome!

I'm gonna cheat a bit and choose Anthony Bourdain since they put Cooks Tour on again!

hmm its really hard to choose. there are several I would like to meet and cook with. but for the sake of this post, I will have to go with Giada. I love her food and she just seems genuinely cool.

I would pick Mario Batali, Giada De Laurentiis, Tyler Florence or Bobby Flay.

Batali... his food is just killer.

I would pick Bobby Flay! I love his Throwdown shows where he enjoys the competition and you actually see his creative side where he makes a new/unfamiliar dish his own. In addition it seems like he's always out to learn something new, jazz up a traditional dish and especially, give others a helping hand.

1 Ina Garten
2 Alton Browm

Absolutely no contest--Mario Batali--he would drink and play guitar also!
If he wanted to bring Alton Brown as a sous chef, that would be additional entertainment.

Batali (sorry Bobby!)

There is no doubt it would be Ina Garten. It would have to be at her house though and Jeffrey must be there too! If her friend TR was there as well, that would do it!
After that, Giada would be a close second. She just seems so nice and her food is right up my alley.

I'd choose Nigela Lawson. She makes everything look so sensual.

My teens would choose Alton or Bobby (and I love them too), but for me it would have to be the Barefoot Contessa. I'd do my best to finagle an invitation to one of Ina's dinner parties on the beach.

mario batali

Ina Garten for breakfast.
Bobby Flay for lunch.
Emeril Lagasse for dinner.
Tyler Florence would BE my dessert. ;-D

Alton, Jamie, Mario, Ina or Bobby.

Honestly, Bobby Flay. Or Mario.

I'd love to Emeril, Mario, Ina, Giarda, Bobby, and Alton to all do one of their speciality dishes.

I would definitely hire Alton Brown. Not only is he incredibly funny, but he is a great chef as well.

Mario, Mario, Mario!

Giada De Laurentiis, she can cook and looks great doing it.

Mario Batali definitely has the most personality out of all the Food Networks stars, so he would get the 'honor' of cooking in my tiny, but surprisingly well-stocked kitchen!

...Bobby Flay and his adorable personality!

I would love to pick Alton Brown's brain while he made me dinner.

Alton Brown! Anyone who treats cooking like chemistry lab - which it is - is awesome.

Batali or Deen.

Send over Ina Garten .....hurry !

I was going to say Bobby until I remembered that Chef Symon is opening a restaurant here (Detroit) this fall. So I'm going to stick with the midwest and say Symon.

Mario, Ina, or Giada.

tough question but I will go with Tyler.

Morimoto!
(aw, I thought he would get more love in the comments)

Nigella Lawson - and I'd have her sleep over so we could have bed-time snacks too!

I would chose Bobby Flay

Mario Batali!! Who better to appreciate my bright orange wine rack :)

Mario, Alton, or Giada

Oh my Gosh.. Jamie Oliver, Bobby Flay, Ina Garten, Nigella Lawson or Alton Brown

Alton Brown. But Bobby Flay and Mario Batali would be good alternatives.

Alton Brown!

Bobby Flay. IMO he is the most talented on the FN, however my husband would vote for Giada for other reasons...LOL

Barefoot Contessa.

mario batali, clogs and all

Morimoto would be very interesting, he has a flair to his cooking that makes me intrigued every time I see it.

But...I think Bobby Flay has always made really solid foods, and intense flavors, that I'd overall be happier with eating.

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby Flay! Oh, some grilled meats would be awesome. I would also love to have Mario cook me something fabulous.

I would have to say Mario Batali, but it would be a challenge as I am gluten intolerant and can't eat pasta or bread. If he wasn't up to the challenge then Bobby Flay would be a very close second.

I would choose Flay or Alton Brown, because they both seem like people whom I could actually hang out with at.

do former stars count? anthony bourdain. i love his snarky attitude.

M Symon or A Brown

Bobby Flay can grill at my house anytime.

Ina Garten

Former star Sara Moulton

Bobby Flay - He seems like someone I would enjoy sharing a meal with.

1. Ina Garten
2. Mario Batali
3. Tyler Florence

Mario Batali

i admit it. i have a crush on amy finley. where is she? coming to cook dinner at my house?

Bobby Flay, he makes great looking food and my sister has a crush on him.

Mario Batali or Ina Garten....ummmmm

I'd have to go with Ina Garten. I've used her books with good results and Bourdain gives her props.

Alton Brown or Ina Garten

I would love to have Ina over, she's so cuddly!

Mario Batali because, well his food just looks awesome.

If it can't be Anthony Bourdain I'd pick Chef Batali. or Morimoto. Though it might be a more fun dinner party with Jamie Oliver.

It's got to be Alton Brown. Not so much for his food choices, but for chemistry lecture that's sure to go with it. Plus all those goofy, distracting props and sock puppets.

It's hard, but definitely Alton Brown. He's hilarious and so smart, and my dad would love him. Hm, guess it wasn't that hard =).

Mario Batali, most definitely.

It would be a toss-up between Bobby Flay (who was sitting at the table next to mine w/ his wife when I dined at Bar Americain a few weeks ago!) - because I love his Southwestern flavors - and Giada DeLaurentis - I love Italian food, and she seems like she would be fun to cook with.

Ina Garten - but only if she brought Jeffrey!

id pick bobby flay, morimoto, or batali. yum!

Ina Garten can cook me dinner any time. Dinner, lunch, brunch, breakfast... But I'd rather have her cook in her kitchen. It's way cooler than mine!

I'd have Ina Garten!! Of course Jeffrey would have to come too :) I'm sure she'd come up with a lovely floral arrangement too!

Ina Garten or Giada, heck probably anyone but Sandra Lee ;-)

Too bad Daniel Boulud doesn't qualify."After Hours" on Mojo is the best food show out there. If it's limited to FN, I would have to say Mario Batali.

Mario Batali, without a doubt! And I'd hope that it would turn into one of those 5 hour marathon eating/drinking sessions he's known for.

Can I say Masuhiro Morimoto? That guy's awesome.

I would pick Alton Brown

Flay, Batali, or Alton. My wife would probably prefer Tyler Florence.

I've eaten at Babbo and it was amazing...I'd have to go with Batali just listen to him talk about the food. That show he used to have was great with the 3 guests. The back stories were very interesting. Flay I would have over for a BBQ though.

Batali.. for sure

It would have been a tough decision if Mario were still at the FoodNetwork. Since he's gone, my choice would be Ina.

Flay all the way!

Bobby Flay! I'll bring the cocktails. :)

Would have to be Alton Brown-great food and would learn a ton about his techniques...would also be great to hear his stories of filming Feasting on Asphalt

I'd love a seafood 'fest prepared by Tyler, or a grill feast by Bobby! And they're both cute! I'd also love some "Get down!" good "ole Southern Comfort (the food! The food, people!............Oh okay, that too!) , by either the Neelys or our new champ Aaron! But my one choice would be Bobby! ( And I'd dismiss my boyfriend for the day!)

P.S.
But I'd be respectful of his marriage status, I like his wife too. She is a pretty good actress!

And I'd invite the "Serious eats!" crew too! I want a free book!

I love me some Mario.

I would love to have Tyler Florence!!! I have a lot of Foodnetwork favorites, but I would have to choose him.....

Alton Brown! I'd love to eat his food, LOL

Ina Garten or Giada.

Boby Flay definitely.

Alton Brown, I love learning and comedy with my meal.

I always believe: GO TO THE SOURCE!
And the source of the best grilled food is the one who wrote the book BOBBY FLAY.
NO SURPRISE!

Thank you for the generous contest. I would personally choose Alton Brown for both the food and the conversation!

Mario Batali....he rules

Paula Deen. I love that she is a southern girl like I am and I have eaten at the Lady and Sons and it is one of the best meals I've ever had!

Hard one....Originally I was thinking Alton - and that's still a great choice, but then I thought about Jamie Oliver would possibly be even more fun....

I would have to choose the butter lady-Paula Deen. She makes things sound easy and delicious.

Bobby Flay would be my first choice but I'd love to have any of them!

There are so many good ones it's hard to choose. I'm sure I would love anything by Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Paula Deen, or Racheal Ray. Thanks.

The kitchen godess of comfort food Paula Deen. Not only would she bring great southern food but tales along with it. Never would I let Sandra Lee step in my kitchen.

Bobby Flay! That man is gorgeous....
gkstratos@yahoo.com

Rachel Ray of course for me.

Giada De Laurentiis.... mmmmm

Chef Rick Bayless, we both share a love and passion of all things Mexico!

Jamie Oliver

Definately Paula Dean and her boys, the story they tell are always great, and the downhome southern laughter always makes me feel good.

Emeril Lagasse, cause I love New Orleans food!

Either Rachel or Giada would be fine with me.....

Alton Brown, please.

Bobby Flay! I have eaten in one of his restaurants and it was really good.

Come on over, Mario Batali

Paula Dean is my favorite; also enjoy the many Bobby Flay programs and miss Emeril as a regular.

It would be Ina Garten, and she could bring along her cute hubby too!

Jamie Oliver for me.

Paula Deen would be my first choice, followed quickly by Giada, Rachel Alton, and any of the Iron Chefs!!

I'd definately choose Bobby Flay, since my grilling skills need improvement and who better to watch'n'learn from?

Mario Batali, hands down.

Guy Fieri, he has seen everything.

it would have to be Bobby, my BF and I love his show, and enjoy his personality so much. It one show we watch together often.

I think it would be a very pleasant and enjoyable evening if Paula Deen were to cook a dinner for us.

I would say I love watching Alton but he would comment and pick on my kitchen....
if sandra lee came to my door or a few others I would hide too

but rachael is welcome to eat - she seems fun but think
paula would be the first choice with a close bobby flay as second and rachael as third
I love watching rachael but honestly love the baking of paula so she would be the first choice- and she would be fun

Alton Brown, I just love to way he explains everything in the cooking process. He makes cooking a science experiment and so fun !

I would choose Guy Fieri! I have watched him ever since he won on season 2 of "The Next Food Network Star" and I LOVE the food he cooks! It's REAL food -- not pretentious frou-frou food!

I really like Paula Dean. She has good recipes and she's very entertaining.

Ina all the way! She'd make it beautiful and end it with a killer dessert. But could we have the dinner at her house?

Jamie Oliver or Nigella Lawson

Definitely Mario Batali!

Paula deen she from th e south and cooks like my grandma

Mario Batali would be my number one choice. I'm sure I can't afford such an extravagance, but it's sure nice to dream....

Alton Brown

Morimoto! Think of all the stories of his experiences while eating sushi!

If they were free, I'd take any of these in a heartbeat!
Mario
Bobby
Jamie

Alton Brown!!!

They're all great so it's hard to pick, but I think I'd go with Batali. I think he'd be a lot of fun and his food would be right up my alley. Thanks!

Mario Batali

I'd choose Bobby Flay or Ina Garten

Bobby Flay for his copious use of chili pepper

Any, it would just be nice to have someone else cooking in my kitchen!

Tyler Florance would be my first pick, but there are so many that I love.

Jamie Oliver for me-Rachel Ray for my husband!

Paula deen
THANK YOU GOD BLESS

Anthony Bourdain

I would hire Emeril Lagasse because even if we just ordered out a pizza it would be a blast just havin' him around.

I pick Giada!

It would be an honor to have Bobby Flay.

Flay or Batali for the food, Deen for personality.

Either Bobby Flay or Giada--they both have recipes that are authentic and truly food flavorful!

for sure it would be paula deen!

Bobby Flay!

man it would be a toss-up between Bobby Flay and Guy Fieri. I really enjoy both of their personalities and think that a night at my house would be a blast with either cooking dinner with friends! My friends and I are some seirous foodies and we would enjoy either. If I was forced to pick, right now I'd go with Guy Fieri -- that guy is bananas...and bananas is good :-).

Rachael Ray or Paula Dean - both are great cooks and have wonderful personalities!

Alton Brown, that would be a fun dinner.

It would be Bobby Flay

That's a much harder question to answer than I initially thought it would be. After some deliberation and reading the thoughts of others I'm down to a tie:

Bobby Flay - I love to grill and I'd love to grill with him. I think I'd take so much away from the experience.

Jamie Oliver - His food is just to comforting and satisfying, and I think the dinner discussion with him would be fantastic.

Hey! Hey! Bobby Flay!

It would have to be Tony Bourdain. He doesn't even need to cook.

Mario, Ina, Bourdain, Ming Tsai.

and Rachel Ray just so I can smack her around every time she says "yummo" and "EVOO" and "delish."

I think Id like Alton Brown. First off I wouldn't want it to be to fancy ala Mario Batali OR Emril, and at the same time I wouldn't want it to simple *cough*pauladeen*cough*. Alton brown seems like the kind of guy who would make an excellent souffle OR a damn good burger. Or some new wierd burger/souffle that I havent even heard of yet.

Being a southern gal, I would chose Paula.

Bobby Flay. His cooking is top notch, not too weird and both my husband and I would love it!

I would definitely invite Alton Brown--not only could we gab about food, but we could talk Georgia football!

Paula Deen! I would eat anything and everything she made me.

Paula Deen because I rarely, if ever, cook anything as rich as her cooking.

Jamie Oliver because if he's coming to my house it better be someone I'd like to talk to, AND I love his cooking, simple with an italian spin and focusing on fresh, good ingredients. Two in one!

That's easy... Bobby Flay anytime and everytime.

Can Alton come and hang out though?

Morimoto, for sure!

Bobby Flay - Because he's as yummy looking as his burgers.

Bobby Flay. I love grilled food.

Bobby Flay, the best of the bunch, even though he is from NY =)

Paula Dean..Love that rich Southern Cooking

I'd have to hire Paula Deen. She's really good with that "stick to your ribs " stuff

Gale Gand. Please have her bring Rick Tramonto to do the apps and entrees and she can follow with a Viennese table dessert presentation. I also would like it if she would bring a couple or three cases of her root beer along . . .

I would say Guy Fieri or Bobby Flay.

This is so difficult. I'd have to say Bobby Flay or the Neelys because their food is just so delicious. But I'd love to just sit and chat with Alton Brown! He's the best!

jamie oliver or tyler florence

Rachael Ray!

Grilling - Bobby Flay
Dessert - Paula Deen

Batali = food.
Sandra = tablescape.

Bobby Flay or Paula Deen

I'd go for Alton Brown. He would be fun. Plus, he's local.

Paula Deen. She is so upbeat and fun!

Rachel Ray

Tyler Florence---he's informative, seems to have a great extensive collection of unique recipes, and a wonderful personality. Plus every recipe I have used from him comes out awesome!!!

paula deen. it's a once in a lifetime meal so even if it is full of butter and oil i know i'd love it!

Oh no doubt it would be Mario Batali. I was always jealous of the people who got to sit and talk to him while he prepared them a meal on Molto Mario.

Mario Batali!

bobby flay because its my chef b/fs favorite.

jamie oliver

I play this game all the time at home - I would pick either Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger (Too Hot Tamales) or Ming Tsai (East Meets West)...both not currently on but are perennial favorites of mine!!!

one of the original japanese iron chefs!

Paula Deen, followed by three hours at the gym to work off all that butter, sugar and cholesterol!!

Bobby Flay so I'd get to see how he'd use my Traeger Smoker and Big Green Egg for different parts of a great dinner!

Tyler Florence - A well-appointed table isn't complete without a handsome guest!

My vote's for Giada!

Alton Brown, Jamie Oliver, Tyler Florence, Paula Deen, or Giada, but I love all of the chefs!

Dude, Mario all the way! He takes things I have access to and throws in a couple I don't and makes something I'd never in a million years come up with that is simple and delicious. Plus, he's a walking encyclopedia of Italian cooking. :)

Jamie Oliver all the way!

Jamie Oliver because he's just oh-so-lovely, or...Morimoto so we could rant about how his dub-over always sounds so much lamer than his real voice. =P

Michael Ciurello or Mario Batali!

There are a few on my list, but Mario would be my first choice.

Batali, for the food and the wisdom.

The Food Network has not had a "star" in the last three years whose
food I would consider eating.

Hands down it would be Paula Dean. She's the best.

I love spicy food, so I would love to watch Bobby cook in my kitchen!

Once Ed convinces Chris Bianco to grace the Network with his presence, I'll take him over anyone, any day. But for now? Jamie Oliver, that charmer.

Alton Brown is my man

I'd select Batali.

Tyler Florence, hands down. He makes the coolest dishes, and he's VERY easy on the eyes, too!

Bobby Flay so I could quietly observe and learn. Mario if it was winter and grilling was less of an option.

I would love to have:
Bobby Flay to grill for me
Paula Dean to cook some good southern comfort food
Alton Brown to talk to as he cooked
Rachel Ray to do her show in my home town with my guests in the front

I would pick Alton Brown because I think the conversation would be fabulous and the food too. I would say Giada but she is too skinny and I imagine she would make me feel like an Amazon!

After living in London I would have to pick Jamie Oliver. The day he made his own ketchup was the day he won my heart.

Since moving from NC to UT, I NEED a dinner date with Mrs. Paula Deen! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Bobby Flay, or Giada

Mario's my man!

Mario Batali or Bobby Flay

Most definitely Bobby Flay......and I'm kinda diggin on Michael Symon too - ever since i saw him cover bacon in chocolate. :)

I like Mario, but I also think Bobby would be to have cook for me.

Paula Deen but ONLY if she brings her sons with her :)

Can I get Jamie....oh wait he's married...wait a minute so am I ...ok Ina has the most approachable cook book...Ina it is

My choice would be Ina Garten. I love her recipes!

Screw my kitchen! I'd rather go to their kitchens:
Ina Garten
Michael Chiarello
Paula Dean (the first show's kitchen)
Giada DiLaurentis
Bobby Flay's rooftop outdoor set up

My husband would certainly want Mario - because he adores Italian food. But since I'm typing this - I'd be greedy; Tyler Florence because I could learn so much from him - and I love his classic style, and Bobby Flay would be on the grill making wonderful bold food that we love, & Guy Fieri making the drinks and cracking us all up. Ya just gotta love the guy - he's so passionate about food.

Jamie Oliver is my choice. He seems like a fun person who would have some great stories to go with his wonderful food.

Bobby Flay could cook for me, since I love spicy food!

jamie oliver no doubt

I don't know if Anthony Bourdain would like being referred to as a "Food Network Star", but if still showing reruns of A Cook's Tour qualifies, he would get my vote hands down. I don't even care if he cooks, I just want to go out drinking with him.

Giada! She's super nice and a great cook!

Yeah, I would pick Bourdain too - but if he doesn't count, then Morimoto.

I want Barefoot Contessa to come and cook at my haus!

Alton Brown: good eats AND a sense of humor!

Mario Batali or Alton Brown. Giada a runner up after that.

My wife loves Paula Dean.

It would be a toss up between Bobby F. & Racheal Ray

I love Bobby Flay, but I'm not a huge fan of spicy food so I don't think I'd want him to cook for me.....but I'd let him take me out to dinner!!! To cook for me, I'd love to have Tyler Florence at my house. Wonderful food and eye candy!

Since it's all about the food, I'd have to go with Morimoto.
He impressed me on the original Japanese version of IC, and continues on the newer version of the show.

He's truly creative and defines cutting edge cuisine without falling into trendiness.

Given the fresh seafood available here in New England, I'd love to see what he'd create.

Probably Mario.

Paula Deen, she seems so funny and sweet and I could totally go for some comfort food!

Ina, Nigella, Paula, or Rachael. Love thwm all.

Guy Fieri and/or Alton Brown

I love Paula Deen she is so down to earth. She could cook for me anytime

Mario, But I would tell him he could not use olive oil just to see if he can make anything without it.

Bobby Flay because he is a nut! *L*

There used to be a chef on the Food Network named Michael something-or-other, with a ponytail - his most memorable episode was cooking on a trans-continental train...sheesh, Michael what?? And where do old foodies go? Is he retired?

Anyways, current favourites, if I had to pick one, it would be Emeril.

Mario is so much fun. Love those orange clogs

without question, mario batali.

Definitely Paula. She's a wonderful cook and she reminds me of my mama!

Alton or Guy Fieri....and I would give the new "Big Daddy" Aaron a try from the Next Food Network Star too!

I would hire Paula Dean because she enjoys food and life so much. I also like Rachel Ray (I don't know if she is still with the Food Network anymore)
because of her bubbly personality.

Paula Dean's down home cooking is my favorite. She can cook for me any day. Bobby Flay's book is intersting, too.

Guy Fieri, most definately!! I love to watch him cook and I love to watch him eat. Watching him taste the foods along his Diners, Drive-ins and Dives road trips, you can almost taste them yourself by watching his reaction as his tastebuds go in to overdrive. Seriously intense!

Probably Mario Batali

It would have to be Bobby Flay. What's not to like. Handsome, funny, great cook and someone even my husband would enjoy talking too!

bobby flay would work for me!

Paula Dean; because I love her cooking style and her ham sausage from smithfield is to die for!!!

Paula Deen-I love her show

Giada De Laurentiis, she is just Smoking!

I would pick Rachael Ray. Thanks!

It was tough to choose, but it would have to be Jamie Oliver. His food makes my mouth water just thinking about it!! LOL.

Well - there would be certain ones I would invite because of their food, but I would have to say Alton Brown, because my husband likes his approach and would actually learn something and perhaps *gasp* APPLY it and cook finally!

I would invite Paula Deen.

paula deen of course

Paula Deen would do a nice country down home breakfast I think.

Rachael Ray, she seems so comfortable with others, I believe the conversation would be fun and stimulating!

Ina Garten, but I'd rather go to her house!

If I was speaking strictly for me, Tyler Florence. But if my boyfriend insisted on being there- Paula Deen.LOL!

Paula Deen without a doubt.

If I had my choice, it would be Bobby first hands down. Runner up would be any of the other Iron Chef's!

I love Bobby Flay.

it would have to be Giada

um Tyler for sure! Although my husband would vote Giada ;) Looks like we have a conflict of interest...

I'd love to have Mario Batali come over and make dinner for me.

I'd like Paula Deen!

Paula Deen b/c she,my mom and I would have a lot fun cooking and eating and talking together.

Rachael Ray is the greatest and keeps it simple!

It would have to be Bobby Flay! We love spice and he's always adding it ;).

Bobby Flay or Paula Deen

I would definitely pick Paula Dean, hopefully she would bring her cute sons along!

No doubt about it: Paula Deen. Her laughter is contagious and she seems like one of those people you would love to have around you. And yea, like someone else said, she could bring her sons along too, that would be the icing on the cake!

I would also pick Paula Deen for her down home southern cooking, and her warmth and friendliness. I think we'd have a fun girl's night!!

Paula Deen is also my favorite.

Jamie Oliver, I could listen to him all night and his food looks good too!

Paula Deen cause I love how she cooks.

Mario Batali, thanks for the giveaway

I'd pick Guy F or Paula D Both cook great and have seem to be fun to be around

I would pick Paula Dean. First of all she would be a joy to talk to while she is making dinner and second of course her food always looks great.

Paula Dean of course

Tyler Florence would be very welcome in my home.

Hands down, Paula Dean! She is so fun to watch and her food looks delicious.
Thanks so much!

I like Paula Deen, Bobby Flay and Emeril! Love cooking stuff!

Jamie Oliver

No question...Jamie Oliver!

Bobby Flay hands down.

My husband would LOVE it if Bobby Flay cooked for him

Paula Deen of course!

Wolfgang Puck definately!!

Bobby Flay (although Wolfgang Puck's food is AWESOME!!)
ceimusic@aol.com

I'd love to have Paula Dean show up for a glass of sweet tea and dinner.

rsgrandinetti (at) yahoo (dot) com

Bobby Flay for me.

Mario Batali, but it would be a really tough choice. I'd be happy with any of them except Sandra Lee. I bet Alton Brown would be fun to talk to, and Paula Deen would make you feel comfortable right away.

I just love Paula Deen

My kids love Emeril, so I would have to choose him.

Paula Deen. She would be fun to meet and I could eat some yummy, fatty food!

Paula Deen. just to meet her. I'd have her cook leaner than she does though. Her food is not healthy.

Ina Garten! She's quite fascinating and seems like a great person!

why, paula deen of course!!! she's such a cutie pie and her food - oh to die for!

Ming Tsai! he seems sooo nice!

Paula Deen please come cook at my house! You are also welcome to move on in and become my second mom. Thanks for the contest!

Bobby Flay or Rachael Ray

paula dean, i'm leaving the light on and i have a place set for you.

I'd pick Ina Garten. Many thanks for the giveaway!

Definitely Giada De Laurentiis -- her Italian dishes always look amazing, and she seems like such a warm and genuine person to boot. Thanks!

Since my husband burns everything on the grill...I would chose Bobby Flay.

I would choose Batali.

Paula Deen for sure. She's so down home. I think it would be like having your best friend in the kitchen.

Rachael Ray....she's funny and very personable

I would have Paula Deen cook dinner for me. She's a true southern cook, she is very entertaining and I believe she would keep us in stiches while she cooks.

Emeril Lagasse

Definitely Bobby Flay

Send any of them; I'd love a fab meal I didn't have to cook myself! No, really, I'd like Bobby to whip up something unique on the grill; can't get over how many different dishes he prepares on it. And I wouldn't turn away Jamie or Giada.

I would hire Rachel Ray. garrettsambo@aol.com

Send Paula over to my house! The food would be fantastic, the conversation devine! She is welcome to stay as long as she likes. Heck, I'd even consider adding on a mother-in-law apartment if she'd stay long enough. I love her Southern cooking and her bubbly personality. Oh, the "Boys" are welcome to come along for an extended stay, too! Thank you for the opportunity to win!

Bobby Flay has my vote hands down! I love his personality and he is a great chef. I don't think anyone else could handle a dinner party as well.

mario batali

So many fun choices! I'd love to have Paula Dean come. (She reminds me so much of the lady I grew up next to, whom I remember fondly.) Hey, Paula, bring the boys too! Of course, I'd also love to have Alton Brown or Rachael Ray. Oh, and Tyler Florence! (Could I make it a party with all of them? grin!)

They are all good cooks, but my favorite is Paula Deen. Love her show. Thanks for the contest!

Jamie Oliver. What a cutie... I mean, his meals look delish! hee hee hee
