The people of Los Angeles can feel safer knowing that the LAPD is cracking down on illegal carts selling bacon-wrapped hot dogs. Tom Andrews of LAist snapped these photos of hot dog carts being confiscated and thrown into the back of a garbage truck. One point for public health, but a stab to the heart of bacon-wrapped hot dog lovers everywhere.

They can take our bacon-wrapped hot dogs....but they can never take....our freedom!

Too late, JudgeFudge... they already have...

I can't believe they just threw all their stuff in the garbage! They couldn't just force them to leave??

Is this even legal? Can a city confiscate property like that? Does anyone else find this a little fascist?

If you park your car illegally, they can't throw your car in the dump. So why can they throw these people's personal property in the dump?

oh my gosh.....why would they do that? I can't count the number of great street foods you can find in other countries. How could our city be so high and mighty to punish people for selling a dog...and tasty one at ..that...what next the little kids selling lemonade?? just shameful

Were the confiscated for not meeting sanitation standards, illegally parked or appeared abandoned? Having dealt with health departments before, I'm pretty sure these don't pass any sanitation standards. Although the bacon-dog is lethal, I don't think the dog itself was the target. I mean, since when is a cleaning cart an acceptable means of serving food?

@bisbee a LITTLE fascist? i feel like the hitler youth could appear any min.
lets face it people, if you eat from one of these carts, you obviously can see the risks, a little personal responsibility is a healthy thing. if there are people that want bacon dogs, and are willing to risk it, which obviously there are or they wouldnt be so damned controversial, let them eat them! Good God, supposedly this is still the United States.
