120-Ounce Steak: Free if You Finish It, $267 If You Don't

20080818-steak.jpgBrand Steakhouse in Las Vegas will give you their 120-ounce (seven and a half pounds) steak for free if you eat the whole thing by yourself. Otherwise, you'll have to pony up $267. Whether the rules include a time limit or puke allowance is unknown. [via EatFeats]

Michael Phelps has a chance. Is there a gold medal in steak eating?

according to that link, it comes with 2 sides too, I wonder...do you have to wolf those down as well?

and EVERY time I hear of these challenges, I think of John Candy in "The Great Outdoors".

*stomach churns*

That's enough meat for twenty! What a waste... That meal should come with a climate change tax!

Wasn't the John Candy huge steak the Ol' 96'er?

I suppose too many people would actually be able to eat a 96oz steak, so they keep upping the size.

No, Homie! Don't fill up on bread!

@peekpoke, yep, it was, 96 ounces of meat...fat...and...gristle.

I hope they include a free triple bypass too. that is just stupid, irresponsible and downright nasty.

"There's nothing left but grizzle and fat! - classic line from The Great Outdoors by Dan Aykroyd and then the big bearded chef gives him the evil eye. hehehe.

@peanutbutter....oh puhleez, its a freakin steak not a coal powered Hummer!!?? and OT, i think i could get damn close. i have put down the 72oz one at The Big Texan. it was a challenge but if i didnt have to eat the potato(a pound) and the roll, it would have been much simpler. my only question is is it prime? IM also thinking they would have to give you atleast 2 hours......next time im in vegas i may have to look into this........

I live in NJ, and there is a burger place nearby where some Rutgers girl at a Monmouth burger but even then at least some of that was carbs which are easier to get down. I honestly think if someone ate that they would die, or if they didn't, then their diet was on the road to killing them pretty friggin' soon.

According to nutrition data, 3 oz. of lean steak has roughly 150 calories. You do the math.

@concreteoatmeal: actually, cows produce huge amounts of methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas. So peanutbutter's concern is not unfounded or over something negligible.

I imagine it's not really high quality meat going into these. It's not like people are tasting it much anyway as the scarf it down. It seems like kind of a waste from that sense.

Is it weird that this doesn't gross me out, instead makes me really hungry?
