Ratings Watch

This season's The Next Food Network Star finale snared 4 million viewers, the highest ratings in the history of the Food Network, and handily beat this past season's finale of Top Chef, which only got 3.5 million viewers. It's probably safe to assume there are going to be many more seasons of TNFNS.

I find Top Chef more entertaining though because most of the chefs are actually skilled and have some background.

I think I am going to boycott THFNS program until they have a winner who produces a show worth watching. Nothing like bringing a new star into a network with Emeril and Bobby Flay to teach people how to spice up their cooking....

OH DEAR GOD, NO................................

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that not everyone has Bravo but I think most people now have FN. I know I don't have Bravo anymore (I'm still sad about losing it).

The Food Network actually had some good contestants on, which were all pretty close, so they had a lot of interest leading up to the finale, which certainly helped them a good deal.

They also seem to have racheted their contestant quality up over last year, which seemed pretty sparse at the very end.

There's no contest - Top Chef is such a better show! I can't believe TNFNS could be more appealing to anyone who actually likes to cook! I'll stick with Top Chef, thank you very much!

This is horrifying. Top Chef fans HAVE to spread the word about the show or we're never going to get it right. Top Chef kills TNFNS. Even though I watched TNFNS, I won't do it again because it was so disappointing. It was the first season I watched, and really, it just falls short of Top Chef. And don't even get me started on Hell's Kitchen. . .

Whatever happened to the chick that won last year? I saw one of her shows at like 8:00am on a Sunday and that was it. I agree with the previous posts...anyone who is a "foodie" or has a passion for cooking should be watching Top Chef. Old housewives are probably watching Next Foodnetwork Star. The contestants are a joke. Why would I want to watch a cooking show hosted by a person I know can't cook...I know because I saw it first hand on NFNS!

That's nutso. I watched both shows, and think Top Chef was by far the most interesting. Then again, TNFNS did finally pull itself together there during the last few episodes.

Is this for real or did somebody make this up????and what kind of ratings are being used?? Top Chef is far better show in every aspect and cooking too...
