Possible Paula Deen-Inspired Candle Scents

pauladeen.jpgThe recent news that Wal-Mart is going to sell a line of scented candles based on Paula Deen's recipes got us thinking: What are the scents going to be? Serious Eater Tahitinova clued us in that Linens 'n Things already sells them, but the scents are uninspired: Vanilla Bean, Banana Oatmeal Chip Cookie, Dark Rum Cake, Coconut Pound Cake, Strawberry Shortcake, and Banana Cream Pie.

I thought we'd get some honest Southern smells that might literally come out of Deen's kitchen. Scents like cornbread. Bacon. Pecan pie. Mac and cheese. Fried chicken. Pancakes with maple syrup and tons of butter. Bacon-donut egg burger. Velveeta fudge. Deep-fried butter. What other scents should there be?

How about the smell of molasses slowly dripping from her kitchen tuh yerrz?

Deep fried pecan pie topped with..pancakes...and butter...stuffed with bacon.

I'd buy a chicken fried steak candle.

i think paula should be required to disclose her Cholesterol results before being allowed to sell anything.

Pork! Pork! and more Pork!

The smell of arteries clogging and hardening? Does that have a scent?

Would you get fatter just smelling it?

What about mayonnaise?

She forgot cheese. She once said "A good ole southern girl can't have enough cheese or butter". I can smell a Maytag Blue Cheese candle on the horizon.

I wanna get my hands on that dark rum cake candle! They better make these safe for consumption!

Bacon-wrapped, deep-fried Twinkies.

I'm not sure what they should smell like, but I hope they come in fun shapes like a stick of butter, little sausages, a candle in a jar that looks just like a Hellmans' jar, or maybe a pound of bacon candles that you peel off one candle strip at a time!

BLT (Butter, Lard & Truffle)

How about a lasagna garlic bread sandwich candle! Did any one see this?
I need to get on my scale, I may have gained weight just watching!!

Sorry, all I can think of is that Simpsons episode with "Tomacco" where Ralphie tries it and says "tastes like grandma!". But I digress.

Hopefully they'll go with butter as a smell. I would like that. Fried Butter.

For the good of mankind, deep-fried lasagna would be better in candle than in edible form.

I've often wondered why onions fried in butter was not available as an aromatherapy scent. It really is the scent that lets me know all's right with the world. Now, thanks to Paula, maybe my dream will come true!

I have purchased the mystery pecan pie candle and smells wonderful. I love the way it makes my house smell and will be buying more in the future.
