Dear Ina, We Are Happy to House-Sit

Ina Garten has the reverse schedule of the average Manhattan apartment owner with a Hamptons summer estate—she spends most of her year "summering" on Long Island, while occasionally visiting the downtown duplex. On the Barefoot Contessa, we're so used to watching her shoe-less, strolling along the sand, but hardly get to see her urbanite side. House Beautiful magazine interviewed Garten and toured her 1920s one-bedroom apartment.

Inside, the ceilings are high, the kitchen is "tiny," and the Belgian couches have just the right amount of cushiness. "I'm short, so if a sofa is too deep I feel like a little girl with my feet sticking out. These are comfortable, but not too cushy," explained Garten. [Via Food Network Addict]

I'm sorry to see no credit given to the interior design firm Ina used for her NYC apt. She did buy alot of gorgeous, luxurious things globally, but used help putting it together. She had an article about this apt. about a year ago in House Beautiful.

Ina is the epitome of class, and so are her living quarters. Simple, elegant, understated and genuine defines both. I heart Ina and Jeffrey, their homes and her recipes!.

@Perky - this is exactly how I feel about Ina!

Ina is "IT" period. @PerkyMac.........you've said it all perfectly!

=Perky +3 - You hit it right on sista!

I love love love everything Ina does. I would love to be her BFF. Hugs from Puerto Rico and keep up the excellent work!!!

:)

I agree with Perky and cocobypr! I'd love to see a tour of her Hamptons home and the barn.

She thinks HER kitchen is small??? Mine is so tiny that 2 people can't fart at the same time.
Ina does everything with class. Understated, elegant and tasteful.

The poor little kitchen... Cry me a river. This is why I built a house in the middle of nowhere. So I could have a huge kitchen. Method to the madness.
