David Rosengarten Talks Cheese

Fans of David Rosengarten and cheese, rejoice! Devour.tv, a new website featuring videos on food, drink and other fun things, has posted a series in which David offers a Cheese 101 course on video.
You can learn, for instance, what it means for a cheese to have a washed rind, or why pairing wine with cheese can sometimes be a challenge. You can even catch a whiff of David's cheese-induced madness when you watch him break open way too many bloomy-rind cheeses in search of one that's even the least bit runny.
Cheese is a huge subject, and many would-be curd nerds are foiled by the seemingly endless variety of cheeses out there. But not to worry—there are many ways to get your Cheese 101 on, even apart from David Rosengarten. Clotilde Dusoulier, author of the wonderful Chocolate and Zucchini blog published this introductory piece on NPR a few years back. The Reluctant Gourmet offers these 10 handy tips for people just starting to get into cheese.
Perhaps the best way to learn, though, is to go to a class at a local cheese shop (like this one offered by Artisanal Cheese if you live in the New York City area) where you'll learn about the different types of cheeses and which wines go well with those cheeses. And don't forget the best part of all: the chance to eat a lot of really good cheese in the process.
About the author: Jamie Forrest publishes Curdnerds.com from his apartment in Brooklyn, New York, where he lives with his wife, his daughter, and his cheese.

Thanks for the roundup - I look forward to checking these out! I've been getting into cheese lately, since I found a cheese shop near me. Time to get my Cheese 101 on!
