It's a loaf of bread shaped like a lobster. Or a lobster that transformed into a loaf of bread. The latter would be more interesting, although I suppose it's a biological impossibility.

I was in San Francisco last week, and down near Fisherman's Wharf, I definitely saw loaf of bread shaped like a crab.

Haha, you're talking about the Boudin bakery, right? You must have missed their famous alligator-shaped bread--they usually have it out on display. :)
