Photo of the Day: Cuban Grilled Corn with Queso Fresco

20080630-potd-corn.jpg

"Oh my god, yes," is one of the first things I think of when I see grilled corn. (Other thoughts include, "Get in my belly," and drool.) Serious eater unarata contributed a photo of her homemade Cuban grilled corn with queso fresco to the Serious Eats Flickr Pool. In response, my stomach is a-growlin', just in time for dinner. Check out the recipe at her blog, Una Rata En La Cocina.

Ooh, this makes me think of my fave way to condimentize corn on the cob... "Oaxacan Style".

Smear on mayo, then sprinkle on or dip finely grated parmesan or romano and squeeze some lime over top. So, so insanely good.

Grilled corn is one of my favorite things ever. I was actually at this place Westville in the West Village for dinner with my friend. She pointed out the grilled corn on the menu and said it was delicious. I thought to myself: of all the things on a menu, my friends points out corn. Simple corn. But really she was so right.

What timing.

My favorite local mexican place was serving this over the weekend here outside Chicago. I got it on a whim and it was amazing.

Argh. I wish I had a grill. So..uh..can we buy this in Manhattan?

Hahaha! I used to go to Oaxaca as a kid, and until now I completely forgot about the vendors that dunk grilled ears of corn into huge jars of mayonnaise. I thought it was gross then, but maybe I would like it now. The Cuban corn looks delicious!

I'm not from Manhattan, but I was just there last week and stumbled up this stupidly delicious Cuban corn at Cafe Habana in what I think is called the NoLita area. Prince street and ... Elizabeth. I think. It was unbelievable.
