Candy Design Gone Wrong

20080625-lighthouses.jpgTalk about unintended consequences. I'm sure some candy designer—now there's a job I'd like to have—sat down, looked at a picture of a lighthouse, and did his or her best to render it in the form of a candy mold or whatever it is they use to make gummi shapes. The candy company spends all this money, cranks up production, and when all is said and done, creates a shape that could be interpreted as suggestive, offensive, or both. Don't see the risqué shape in the image at right? See the one below, after the jump. Possibly NSFW or for delicate sensibilities.

Hahahaha. This is way better than the gummi legos.

ha ha ha ha ha

I'm trying to figure out why someone would think kids would want gummi lighthouses in the first place...

Why would there be a need for gummi lighthouses?

What's next, gummi trains going into tunnels?

Maybe next they'll make gummi bearded clams?

gummi camel toes?

Haha. Some underpaid candy designer is having the last laugh.

I have been to a bridal shower with gummi peni and I got to tell you nothing is funnier than when you hand grandma the bag of candy she takes one out puts it in her mouth smiles and nods mmm mmm then takes another piece out and looks at it and say AAAH. Go ahead grandma you already had one. Uh oh double entendre.

I laugh the laugh of wicked glee.

What's wrong with Gummies in the shape of NY State? ;)

You're all going to hell.

LOL :)

Anyone know where I can buy these? Seriously.

hahahaha...

It reminds me i posted a picture of a heirloom tomato on my blog this week and a lady commented: [quote] That first picture of that tomato looks like my ass squeezed into a pair of red polyester walking shorts. On a really hot humid day. Thanks for the reminder, Zen. [unquote]

Maybe i should post this picture of the lighthouse candy just to see her reaction... :-)

Do lighthouses usually have smoothly rounded tips, uh, tops? If not, this designer's got a lot of 'splainin' to do.

Simon, thanks for saving me the time...that's exactly the product I thought of when I saw this post! Not that I've given those as gifts or anything... ;-)

i have a 'lobster shaped' copper mold that looks like a penis cake pan. it happens. i mean, it's not like penises are the only thing penis shaped. longer than thin with a base is a pretty practical shape for a lot of things.

that said, and speaking of clams, how about gummi geoducks? fun!

I did a search on Mill Farm gummi lighthouses, and everyone else on the web had the same reaction. I'm with you annien, that designer has got some splainin to do. And for baboo, I read on a post that this is a brand of candy sold at Christmas Tree Shops.

These would go great next to the matching chocolate covered cookies in the Castro (San Francisco). They would be a hit!

LOL! (not kidding)
