Can the New Starbucks Logo Just Wear a Turtleneck?
Last month, we told you what coffee drinkers thought of the new Starbucks Pike Place Roast. Everything from "kinda watery" to "real strong." But who cares about the coffee; we should have asked about them about the mermaid's sassy new look. Er, old look, since the breast-baring image is a throwback to the original Seattle store's logo.
Nicknamed the "Slutbucks" controversy, the redesign had one conservative group bickering and covering children's eyes. Well, they can simmer because Starbucks recently announced, "we will be returning to the standard green logo in a few weeks." Apparently, this was not in reaction to critics, but always part of the plan: roll out the "heritage logo" for an eight-week long Pike Place Roast launch, then phase her out. We'll see how many customers notice, care, or demand the mer-hussy back.

This is ridiculous. I'm going to boycott Starbucks for caving in to morons.

I will continue to boycott Starbucks for having bad coffee and now for caving in to morons.
Cowgirls Espresso, here I come!

I'm going to boycott Starbucks for covering up the mermaid at all. C'mon, I need -some- sort of excitement from their otherwise unremarkable coffee.

Was this not the plan all along? After people clamoring for the old logo back, now Starbucks can say they give people what they want.

Oh! Collector's items.

What is up with America? The sight of a DEPICTION of a bare breasted anything is enough to start a commotion. Really, why are so many people hung up on this sort of thing? Oh yeah, and I don't drink Fourbucks coffee, so I can't comment on that...

What's really lame is that's a censored version of the original logo, since the breasts are conveniently covered with hair that was added in. You can buy merchandise with the "real" original Starbuck's logo at the original store at the market in Seattle

I said this over at Nancy Luna's place...
Forget about the boobs -- look at those legs.
Could they BE spread open any wider?
Ha! :)

I don't care about the boobs, like 50% of us have them. I just think it's ugly and brown and it doesn't make me want to drink coffee. BUT I do give them props for going back to the "original", the green logo is so disney. They should have made the originals boobs bigger, I bet people would have quit complaining:)

I wish better coffee was available within walking distance from my workplace ... I thought the original logo looked ugly, but I can't say that a mythical creature's anatomy is anything to get upset about. I don't think breasts traumatize children. I just don't.
