Photo of the Day: A Rediscovered Sweets Shop

potd-candyshop.jpg

After the closing of this pet food store on Prospect Park West in Windsor Terrace/Park Slope, Brooklyn, a surprise was found behind its fading painted sign and wooden boards: a beautiful stained glass sign from an old, possibly 1930s-era sweets shop. Hopefully it will get cleaned up and actually be turned into a store that sells candy, soda, and ice cream—or at least, the sign won't be covered up again.

What a fantastic storefront. I'll bet it's turned into something trendy, though.

I love these types of discoveries. I truly hope the sign won't be covered up or worse destroyed.

I live nearby and will inquire about its future...I love this stuff

@Hamburger America: The rumor is that the wine store on 16th Street is going to move in.

i live in the neighborhood and know that it's going to be a wine store, the guys have some pretty good taste but i don't know what they're plans are...

i've been watching that shopfront, last week there was ANOTHER sign covering the stained glass, that was also beautiful, but i didn't have my camera with me. i'll go lean on the wine dudes as well avryan.
