Author Andrei Cherny visits The Colbert Report to promote his book, The Candy Bombers: The Untold Story of the Berlin Airlift and America’s Finest Hour, where he tells the story of how America prevented the spread of Communism by dropping candy bars.

From The Candy Bombers website: "In the course of a single year, these men undertook the most successful humanitarian action of all time, won the hearts of America’s defeated enemies, inspired people around the world to believe in America’s fundamental goodness, avoided World War III, and won the greatest battle of the Cold War without firing a shot." When was this? I thought that last week was reruns... Is it tonight's episode?

@The Gastronomic Gamer: This clip is from May 15th...

Really? I must've skipped that interview. I sometimes don't watch them.

Serious Eats is becoming one of my very favorite blogs. Not only is it full of information about food that I can use every day, but it keeps me current on so many other topics! I've just requested The Candy Bombers at my library. Thank-you so much for all the great posts.
