Pretty Food Packaging from Switzerland

20080425-swissfoodpackaging.jpg

If only the aisles of my local Shop Rite could be filled with such simple and appealing food packaging. Check out more designs from Swiss food retailer Migros at package design blog, TheDieLine.com

The packaging is beautiful, I especially like the sleeping bag- ravioli. And aw! Shop Rite! how I miss my giant, beautiful Shop Rite in New Jersey.

That beef packaging is a great idea. You could do a whole series with different animals as the die-cut: pigs, chicken, etc.

@valser: That's my fave too!

As for Shop Rite, you wouldn't believe the wide-eyed look of wonder on my friend's face when she came home with me to NJ from NYC one night to stock up on foodstuffs (it was for a film shoot). It was a rare moment when one would be happy to be in the suburbs. She just piled the stuff into our carts and whizzed around the supermarket's extra-wise aisles. We hauled an SUV filled with frozen foods, pastas and whatnot back to the city.

Those mango lassi are so good.. but pretty much any dairy product in Switzerland taste amazing. I was too busy eating the stuff to notice the pretty packaging.

fwiw, this is Migros' Sélection line of 'premium gourmet' food. So, everything is very, very expensive. But good. And pretty! (Migros is Switzerland's leading supermarket chain - they dominate the market, with about 30-35% share. They are like Tesco's in the UK.)

This is their M-Budget line's design (the inexpensive no-brand house label), which is also rather nice I think.

@maki: thanks for the link. M-Budget looks really cool!
