The 'Save Robert Irvine' Campaign Begins

saveRobertIrvine.jpgFrom a "group of volunteers who are interested in keeping Robert Irvine as host of Dinner: Impossible" comes the "Save Robert Irvine!" campaign. The strategy consists of contacting the Food Network via its online form and the always effective online petition. [via tampabay.com]

Will this "group of volunteers" also be around to talk major organizations into working with Robert? I don't think anyone understands how tough it will be to produce a show with Robert Irvine now that he is more known for being a liar than for being a chef. It is not as simple as "keep him on Food Network!", it is a question of how will they produce this show now? Good luck to you and your volunteers.

Since this story has been out, it's been amazing how many euphemisms I've seen for lying. Like if you call it something else that makes it OK.

I used to love watching Dinner Impossible but I've really lost respect for him now and it doesn't matter that I think he did a good job on the show....

How about "embellished"? He's a phony. Why would FN even consider keeping him? The show should be canned altogether. Bringing in another host would serve no purpose.

If the show is one that viewers like, how would bringing in a new host serve no purpose?

wow everyone is so critical here. I think his show is one of the few good ones of all the new crap that food network is putting out these days. (URS and throwdown are sooo bad) and i also think he is responsible for its success. also he does a great job making the food delicious and on time every episode. Its FN's fault that they didn't look into the resume deeper but at this point i think its moot that he exaggerated a few things. what reason does gina neely have for being on TV? what about 2 dudes catering or whatever? if the show is good he should stay -thefoodinmybeard

sorry, he shouldn't be rewarded for the extent of lying he did. I enjoyed the show when I did watch it, but now it's less enjoyable because of his need to lie rather than get the job honestly, and I do think he's a good chef, he should have let that speak for itself.

I read that Food Network is looking for a new host, to keep the show alive. Will it be as good? Who knows, he's the only one I can see doing it, maybe they need to kill the show and come up with a similar concept and call it something else.

I didn't get to where I am in my career by lying. "Cheaters never prosper", isn't that the old phrase?

I think it is a shame that anyone loses their job. But the formerly about Food tv is not a worry really. If he is a chef and has a following he will be still a chef with a following.

As the host of the SAVE ROBERT! campaign, I would like to say that I'm a little overwhelmed by the response. In two days we have gone from averaging 25 hits a day to well over 400 a day. The online petition also jumped by 60 signers.

Of course I would make myself available to media, if they wanted, but as a low level grass roots organization we do not really have anyone knocking down our door.

But please make sure you visit http://saverobert.bravehost.com and sign the petition and let Food Network know that you still want Robert as host.

So dlairson, your HIT count has gone through the roof, but you're only up to 60 signers...methinks that says it all.

Impressive: the petition is up to 123 signatures, including 'Eagle Archambeault' and 'Earl of Sandwich'.

Hi All,

In the past couple of days the Save Robert! website has gone from 12 hits a day to over 200. Also the petition has jumped from 60 members to almost 130, after I removed some of the fake or suspect signatures.

This says something, the more people who are aware of this campaign, the more who want to participate.

What's the opposite of groundswell?

I think that'd be a sinkhole, PerkyMac. =D

I'm a little unclear why 'Earl of Sandwich' is being held up with a real name for ridicule Raphael.

Does anyone else think it's kind of funny that only the host was fired over the business of his lying on his resume? I mean what about the people who where checking his creidentials, or the people who touted that hype in the first place. I beleive that FN only added insult to injury when it fired it's host, who beleived (or cared) that the queen would give a knighthood to a chef. That said, the rules are a mule, but they are the rules. He shouldn't have lied, but maybe now he can get together a show that showcases his talents, with a network that appreciates their people.

Good riddance to a bombastic liar. What an ego! It appears the only way Irvine ever got anything done on time was relying on his verbally abused staff. Kudos to all who had to put up with him. Looking forward to the new season with Simon.

Robert Irvine is a very creative chef. Part of the thrill of the show is seeing him work under pressure. I'll tell you another little secret. Most women watch the show to see Robert's hot body. That's why the replacement guy Simon sez just won't do.
