Braille on Beer Cans in Japan
How does a visually impaired person pick out a can of beer from other canned non-beer beverages? By feeling the braille on the top of the can—if you're in Japan, at least.
Beer manufacturers in Japan have started stamping braille on the top of cans that spells out "alcohol" or, if made by Kirin Brewery, "Kirin Beer." Whether this will increase the number of drunk blind people on the streets is not yet known.

brilliant! i wonder if this will be followed by the stamping of the beer's tasting notes in braille? i mean, since they've already invested in the technology, why not?

They actually been doing this for awhile. At least as long as I've been here in Japan, which is getting on two years now.

This would be great for when your vision's impaired from drinking & you are fumbling for your beer! If I only knew Braille... hahaha
