Valentine's Day Chocolate Giveaway
You didn't think we'd leave you hangin' for Valentine's Day, did you? Of course not. Thanks to the generosity and Valentine's Day spirit of Charles Chocolates founder Chuck Siegel, we are giving away one of his Heart Collections (featuring an edible box) today. That means every box of chocolate will arrive in time to present it on Valentine's Day to your valentine.
The edible box has a dark chocolate base and a white chocolate lid. Inside you'll find 24 chocolate hearts with either raspberry, passion fruit, or mojito fillings. So after the hearts are all gone, your valentine can start eating pieces of the box.
Siegel is one of America's best artisanal chocolatiers. I discovered his chocolate at last year's Chocolate Show. He makes seriously good chocolates.

i would have said 'dark' because we heard it is heart healthy; but we now find out that the healthy flavanoids are removed at origin from the cocoa before it goes to the chocloatiers because they are too bitter for the palate. so i'll say 'milk'.

I keep an open mind and I've never met a piece of chocolate I didn't like: white, milk, dark, or marbled, all are lovely. Actually, that's not quite the truth, because my "eccentric" mother-in-law once offered me a truffle that must have been ten years old. I initially thought it was some elegant gourmet item she'd found because it was an unusual caramel color. Actually, it was rancid dark chocolate, and it tasted indescribably bad. It took me over an hour to recover. (I recently helped her clean out her fridge and found dated leftovers from 1993 and plenty more "historic" chocolate.) My husband still owes me.

I used to HATE chocolate. Completely. I could handle white chocolate every now and again, but I would choose a bag of Skittles over chocolate any day. But somehow, out of nowhere, I started craving dark chocolate and now I can't stop eating it! There are so many fun concoctions out there with dark chocolate....I say it is research to have to try all of them...

I was completely and happily surprised when I listened to one of the cravings of my body ( I am pregnant & there are various cravings) ... and the pay off was more than I ever expected. I have always enjoyed the taste of really fine dark chocolate, in whatever form. One night, my blood pressure was really elevated (related to pregnancy) and as I lay there, my mind would not stop directing me to eat chocolate. Well, I gave in and within moments of devouring some, my heart rate and blood pressure had both come down and I was resting comfortably. It was a real revelation of that particular health benefit by chocolate indulgence!
