Golden Clog Winners Announced

Our friends at Eater San Francisco live-blogged the Golden Clog Awards. We are sure Anthony Bourdain and Michael Ruhlman were sufficiently inebriated (even in the daytime) to make the whole affair more than a little amusing. Some of the high-lowlights:

The Fergus Award for "greatest achievement in pork and guts" went to David Chang of Momfuku fame.

The Rocco for "worst career move" went to Tyler Florence for "Applebee's, Applebee's, Applebee's."

Ina Garten won The Alton, for "being on the Food Network and yet, somehow, managing to not suck."

5 Comments:

The Rocco ("worst career move") should be a golden clog with dog poop on the bottom.

And the Fergus should be a clog made out of leaf fat.

I think The Alton is a brilliant award. I really like Ina Garten because she exudes a calm about entertaining at home, emphasizing the pleasure of it all rather than the frenzy.

so very glad ina won. disappointed that martin picard didn't. otherwise, i just love the whole spirit of these awards. to use my new favourite phrase "what a hoot". haha.

also, genius idea adam. you should pitch that to them.

Mario got sold, but Tyler sold out. Shame, Shame, Shame.

Hooray for Ina!

The Oscars are on tonight and I was thinking - when was the last time you watched an awards show where the audience and hosts were all drunk (and the staff and crew too?), and none of the nominees were present, but drunks in the audience accepted on their behalf? I'll bet the writer's strike wouldn't have affected this unscripted show either. I could have watched a few minutes and had a laugh.

LOVE Ina - she is the best!!
made her incredible vegetable soup provencal on this cold rainy day - saffron gives it the most elegant flavor.
Ina rocks!
