Closing Soon: Baldinger's Market in Pennsylvania
Cybele of Candy Blog reports that beloved candy store Baldinger's Market is closing in June due to the passing away of owner Lois Dodge. The store has been in operation in Zelienople, Pennsylvania since 1933 and is known for its incredible candy selection. Cybele says,
Baldinger’s boasted an excellent collection of candies. Much of it was bulk items and classic hard-to-find items like anise squares, Nik-l-Nips, wax lips and Mary Janes. They had seasonal candies as well, as that’s half the fun of candy along with candy bars from all over the country, limited editions and not the just the biggies.
Head out to Western Pennsylvania to get your candy fix before it's too late!

Boy, that's a real shame. Baldinger's is an institution. I've been there many times.

We were planning on going to Pittsburgh to catch "Diary of the Dead" this weekend. Guess we'll check this place out!

@Robyn: Sad to learn that Baldinger's will close, as I live in western PA and haven't visited yet. I'll try to go this weekend! Zelienople is on the way to the Grove City Outlets, so I'll probably head up there to shop for a bit and then I'll stop for a sugar fix on the way home.

Good news - I just talked to the folks at Baldinger's yesterday and they're saving the store. They found a new (and larger) location up the road and will move in sometime in July.
New address is 519 Perry Highway (across from the Exxon station).

Guess What?! Baldinger's now has a website! The web address is www.baldingerscandy.com You can get directions, see the hours, and see photos of their new store. I was excited to see they even had photos of the famous register. There is also an email address in case you want to send a message their way.
