Seriously Delicious Giveaway: Zingerman's Gift Certificate
I don't know about you, but this time of year my mailbox is full of food catalogs offering me food I don't really want. There are a few exceptions, of course, and Zingerman's is certainly one of them. The Zingerman's Catalogue is full of honest food, delicious things that the company makes, or stuff that Zingerman's partners Ari Weinzweig and Mo Frechette have discovered in their far-flung travels.
Stuff they make includes terrific bread, baked goods, and cheese. Carefully chosen olive oils, condiments, vinegars, and various sausages, the stuff of many a serious eater's dream, come from small artisanal producers all over the world. My favorite cheese is Cypress Grove's Humboldt Fog. It's a great goat cheese with a line if blue gray ash running through the center, with a creaminess towards the rind. Although I primarily eat it with a baguette, I did have it in an amazing dessert at the late Hawthorne lane restaurant in San Francisco -- they used it for a cheesecake. delish.

Boucheron, a lovely semi-ripened French goat cheese. It's all oozy and camembert-like around the outside of the small wheels, and all tart and chevre-like deep inside. Heaven when warmed by crusty toast.

My favorite cheese is fresh mozzerella on a salad.
All summer I made salads with mozzerella and lettuce and strawberries and cucumbers and blueberries, sliced almonds, cranberries and radishes.
You can use so much with fresh mozzerella.
Not one person didn't love my salad.
I used either strawberry dressing or any dressing with it.
It is to die for.

My very favorite cheese ever is Swiss Cheese because Swiss Cheese has holes in it, so all the calories fall out of the holes. Also, if you don't want to eat it, Swiss Cheese is useful as a dream catcher. But, eating Swiss Cheese is the best flavor!

Don't know the name, but there's one with bits of black truffle in it. Rather mild cheese, so the truffle comes thru. Also, love to put quince jam on soft cheese like Brie. That's a sammich!
