Cook the Book: 'Eat This!' on Hot Dogs

20070813eatthis100.jpgHot dogs are one of those iconic American foods that almost every region of the country has an interest in. Whether it's Papaya King in New York, Hot Doug's or Wiener's Circle in Chicagoland, Tony Packo's in Toledo, Ohio, Pink's in L.A. or one of any number of regionally famous dogs, almost everyone has something to say about them. Including Ian Jackman in Eat This! After the jump, a few of Jackman's picks.

As is always the case with our Cook the Book feature, we've got some of these bad boys to give away. Details here.

Hot Dogs

Run, Don’t Walk, For…
  • A Sonoran hot do from El Guero Canelo in Tuscon. My favorite hot dog isn’t even served in a hot dog roll.
  • A Dodger dog at Dodger Stadium. Don’t leave the game before the end.
  • A Chicago dog with everything. A handful, but practically a balanced meal.
If You’ve Never Tried…
  • A chili dog. Not for the faint of heart, and keep a napkin handy, but it’s something worth going the extra step and adding some meat to your sausage.
  • Try this, or any other signature dog. Any joint that thrives longterm selling its own dog creation has got to have something going for it.
