The Ultimate Coffee Cup
Ceramics artist David Piers has created his idea of the ultimate coffee cup. The cylindrical cup you now have in your kitchen may get the job done, but David's cup is made with the needs of the drinker in mind, not what's more convenient for the manufacturing and design process:
The form flows from the shape of hand and mouth, the weight and volume of the contained fluid, and the relations between these. The undulating rim fits the lips better and prevents spills on the side opposite the handle. [...] The oval body brings the center of gravity closer to the hand.
I don't think I'll truly understand how inadequate my current cup is until I feel the undulating rim of David's cup on my lips. $18 will get you the ultimate cup from David's online store. [via notcot.org]
