Wal-Mart Is Selling Mexican Coke Too

Remember last week's story about Costco selling Mexican Coke? This morning, because we love soda with real sugar—and you, too—an update:

alaina: mexican coke sighting at napa wal-mart
lia: link please!
lia: or did you see?
alaina: no link, i saw it myself!
lia: no photo???
alaina: it's a coke bottle
alaina: no
lia: also i did not think "napa" and "wal-mart" were allowed to be in the same sentence
alaina: me neither

(Alaina is in Napa attending Taste3, the annual conference sponsored by Robert Mondavi Winery that "aims to push the exploration and marriage of wine, food and art.")

While I am happy to buy Mexican coke in Costco, Food City or any place south of the border. A 25 cents a bottle sale would not induce me to set foot in a Wal-Mart.

As a fourth generation Napan, let me explain the nature of the universe to you:

The Wal-Mart replaced the K-Mart.
Up until about 20 years ago, the biggest crops in Napa were prunes and cows.
Over 70% of those of us whose families have lived in the Valley growing prunes and cows for over a century had to leave because we can't afford to live there any more.

I must agree with the first poster. Despite my addiction for Mexican Coke, I can't think of anything that would tempt me to enter a Wal-Mart. If Mexican Coke can't, I doubt that anything can.
