Burgervision: The Apple Pan's Charles Collins

A couple months ago, we commissioned filmmaker George Motz to go a filmmakin' for us. We gave him relative carte blanche on this assignment, and, knowing we love great burgers, he just sent us over his first piece—a short take on the Apple Pan. This venerable Los Angeles burger joint opened in 1947, and for 50 of those 60 years, Charles Collins has worked there. Motz catches up with Mr. Collins as the latter celebrates his golden anniversary at the Apple Pan.

THE APPLE PAN
Location: 10801 West Pico Blvd. (at Westwood Blvd.), Los Angeles 90064
Phone: 310-475-3585
Price: $5.75
Short Order: Two classic burgers dating to the '40s still amaze tastebuds with individuality and kick-ass quality in old-school diner digs.

About the filmmaker: George Motz is the burger-mad genius behind our favorite burger movie, Hamburger America. For more from George, visit his website, HamburgerAmerica.com

Please add 20,000 more videos like this one. Wonderful.

Norman: We've got more of these pieces in the pipeline. George is shooting a total of 10 short videos for us on interesting little places like the Apple Pan. I can't wait to see the rest of his work.

I absolutely love the Apple Pan. Many people in L.A. claim Father's Office as the best place for a burger, but for me, the Apple Pan is it.

I can't believe it, but I don't think I've ever been to the Apple Pan (at least not as an adult). Bad Acme! Bad!!!

I've never been to the Apple Pan, but now I love it and Charles Collins. Good job, George—so excited to see the rest of your videos!

I go to the Apple Pan at least once every time I'm in LA. Best hamburger in a town in which there are a lot of good ones! I next arrive in LA next Friday evening...guess where I'm going for dinner?
