The best veggie peeler I ever bought was from Ikea. I know I bought it for a gift basket and forgot to put it in one day my old peeler gave in and I drug the Ikea peeler out. This thing peels like there is no tomorrow.

of course you can sharpen a peeler.
use a diamond coated nail file.
This will sharpen the edge to like new.
They are also good to put an edge on a cusinart blade.
